How deep are the pickup routs in the body of an american stratocaster type guitar. The pickups setup will be S-S-S if that helps any. Is the area routed for the controls deeper or higher or even???

Hey I just bought a peice of wood to build my new guitar with, and the sides are really uneven. Would it work ok if I ran about a 1/4" off of the side with my table saw??
