  1. thanks guys, really enjoyed the carving with the angle grinder its just such a timesaver Not much going on, just waiting for the clear to cure
  2. Was looking through ebay the last week & found a mahogany blank for 17 quid, so I though it was about time to try a body from scratch, as all my previous builds had been cut & shut jobs. Made some templates from another body, but had a bit of an accident when the router depth guide slipped on the neck pocket so had to glue a shim in. Freehanded the body outline, then sanded & finished the depth with a follow bit Bought a sanding disk for the angle grinder, that saves so much time. Getting there Tried some tru oil a a sealer, not grain filled as I want that to show on the next bit
  3. holding a guitar under is quite an effort. The easiest way to clear the paint is use a hair dryer, blows all the paint to the sides of the tank.
  4. The only thing I've ever used is http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?...s=1215444111312 unibond clear for 3 pyramid necks, use half a tube per neck
  5. JS Donnie style attempt this time some cheap ibanez body, hey why make life difficult http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...mpickuprout.jpg plenty of sanding later Then some paint First time trying micromesh http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...d/donnie2-1.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...ild/donnie4.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...ild/primer2.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...ild/drawnon.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...ld/halfdone.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...ild/donnie6.jpg
  6. Not a complete build but more modding some cheap parts off the bay & mainly a huge thanks to Brian for all the JEM tutorials RG body, dirt cheap neck, fingerboard, inlays, 6100 frets, pewter edge & lots of fluro plastic & paint http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...d/lngprimer.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...ramidspaper.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...build/front.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amr...0build/side.jpg
  7. Finished up my Ibanez GMC style build it was fun as it was my first fretboard removal, attachment, inlay & fretjob following all the tutorials on the main site. CNC popular body from Jaden in the UK http://www.guitarworkshop-uk.com/ Cheap 35 quid neck of the bay, give it a swirl, Ibanez cosmo fittings. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amrt/GMC/gmc5.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amrt/GMC/gmc2.jpg and by last build got a new fretboard also http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q70/amrt/GMC/gmc6.jpg
  8. Hi guys, quick question I couldn't find the answer to please. Just about to fret my first fingerboards with are 20", what should I bend the fretwire to - 18", 16", does it just need to be slightly tighter than the board? thanks Andy
  9. Thanks guys, sanded then glued the necks on the other day. Today made myself a 20" radius block, gotta love the tutorials
  10. Excellent, thanks guys. Was quite surprised how they came off, half hour each.
  11. Hi, quick question please. Just removed a couple of fretboards for the 1st time following the tutorial, I presume I need to sand off all the old glue from the neck before attaching the new board? thanks
  12. Thanks guys, the gold one I had this crazy idea to try swirling it in size then applying gold leaf to the glue, but the size spread too much on the water so just went for some random distressed effect
  13. Well, hi all, been viewing this site for a year after finding it from Jemsite.com, so thought it was only fair to post some builds that I've done since being inspired by you guys. Builds is the wrong word, but reshaping bodies, necks & painting is probably more like it. As you can prob. guess from the pics I'm stuck in the 80's, but hey I still love neon, but thanks, this forum has been an incredible resource, so this it what I have hacked up in 2007
