  1. Unless you order otherwise, Floyd Rose equipped Carvins use Sperzel locking tuners and a regular graphite nut. I think the key is making sure that the string does not bind whatsoever in the nut.
  2. Very very nice as usual, Jeremy. I would also like to see an inlay close up pic.
  3. Maybe break down the check list further by what kind of guitar you are building. For example, fixed bridge or tremolo, etc. That would be a pretty cool little page, me thinks.
  4. Interesting. My father has this need to buy every power tool on the face of the earth. I will have him get one and I'll check it out.
  5. Well, sjaguar13, a few months ago on the BLS site there were pics of Zakk's guitar guru painting a camo bullseye Les Paul. I just went there so I could give you the link but it isn't there. Sorry.
  6. There are many suppliers that sell tuning machines individually. I think Warmoth does this. Yep, Warmoth does. http://www.warmoth.com/common/frames/hardware.htm
  7. Automotive paint can be very expensive. I have sold paint at the store I work for that cost $180 per ounce. If you have friends in the paint and body business you can come out much cheaper. If you are on their good graces, all you have to do is buy about 4-6 ounces of paint. Borrow some reducer, clear, and hardner from the inside man, and you got it cheap. The problem is while a paint shop can mix a few ounces of paint, we can not sell lower amounts of the reducers, etc. Everything has to be bought in quarts and gallons (although some hardeners come in half pints and pints).
  8. I mix paint at the auto parts I work at. Depending on the kind of paint (urethane, enamel, etc.), the style of paint (metallic, micah, or pearl), and the color, prices vary significantly. Typically, red is the most expensive, due to the cost of red pigments. Followed by oranges and yellows. As Jeremy said a quart will spray boocoo guitars. A 1/4 to 1/2 pint is plenty. Just remember to make room in the paint budget for reducers, hardeners, and clears.
  9. First, welcome aboard! As far as what to build goes, I guess it's really up to you. But if I can state my opinion let me add some things to ponder. A kit is a guitar that is in pieces. If you can take apart your guitar then you can build a kit. Or you can build the whole thing from scratch, whcih I think is the coolest. Either way, it will be something YOU did. As for me, I am going to use a pre made neck with a paddle headstock and design my own body design and headstock design. I thiunk that is the best of both worlds. You actually made the body from scratch. But the part that will make or break the guitar (the neck) will be done already.
  10. I know nothing. But I liked the Carvin tour, because I am a Carvin addict. And the Brian Moore tour was cool.
  11. Anyone notice that Paul Reed Smith looks like david Koresh?
  12. That guitar is amazing. Nice. Verrrry nice.
  13. I want to say, "That's the beauty," but I can't.
  14. I think it was the Rogue Aluminator. It looked like anodized aluminum with swiss cheese holes all over it.
  15. I think I read on the Floyd Rose site that Dean Markley was going to be making strings for it. Or was that Dean Markley is making the Floyd Rose package strings...
  16. I think it might be something to look into. As you said, Brian, I like the trem has promise. But what about headstocks!? That is half a guitars character. Would a guitar look as good with a naked headstock, or...gulp...none at all? I will be the first to say that Steinbergs are nasty looking....but then again I DO have the Egyptian guitar in planning stages...hmmm. An Osiris shaped headstock anyone? Not a big one, just subtle... Did some more reading on the Speed loader. B.C. Rich showed a handcrafted Beast with the unit on it. I like what they did with their headstock. What I wonder is: Will the trem be avail. only for 25 1/2 scale or will 24 3/4 and 25 follow. Since obviously the strings have to be a specific length.
  17. Thanks for the info, Brian. Excellent stuff you provided. Sprocketboy, I feel your pain, man. I live just south of you in Dickinson. It is nice to spray in almost underwater conditions, isn't it.
  18. Nothing right now. Can't put down my JEM long enough. Actually I am working on the design for an Egyptian themed 7 string.
  19. Thanks for the info, Brian. Now all I have to do is find a cool pattern.
  20. Are there any specific fabrics that must be used? I don't know cotton from flannel. Should it be a "thick" or "thin" material?
