  1. you would still have to have a switch on the guitar or have all the pickups running at the same time.
  2. WOW! is the word that comes to mind. Thanks for that info. I guess if i wanted to recreate the same idea on another strat i would have to get an S1 or could i do it with a push pull pot or a switch or something? I might use only some of the things they have done, i dont know. So how bout this S1 switch. Is it posible to get one? is there another way?
  3. We got an American Deluxe Series Stratocaster in the shop i work at and i found it kind of cool how fender have created a strat knob with a button to extend the sounds of the strat. I know what it does because of these diagrams fender has posted but i would really like to know exactly how the is done by only using one switch. Here is the diagram of what it does... 4. is it possible that it is because my lead goes past a 4x power adapter?
  5. ok i know its nota problem with the jack or the switch
  6. i think it may be a stuffed jack so ill replace that now with a new one and get back to you all, sorry for waisting space if it is.
  7. thanks dude, ill check now
  8. this may be normal but my Epi LP std is buzzing untill i put my finger in the strings, switch or p/u. if i turn any one of my vol's all the way down it stops if i turn any one of my tone's all the way down it stops if i turn my tones all the way down and then move both my vols up and down the lowest and highest setting has not buzz but as i move the vols to half way the buzz gets lowder and then get softer when i get past half way what the hell is going on, and if this is norm, why?
  9. yep, thats right. Just one thing though. It doesnt matter which side the ground is on, just which pickup is connected to which side.
  10. i think i understand what you are asking so i will try to answer... which ever way you puck the switch, the pick up wired to that side will be on and the other off. When the switch pushes the plate it turns that pickup off by making the connection uncomplete. Hope that helped
  11. When i fitted sperzels to my epi they didnt fit. If you expanding the holes with some sort of finish make sure you put the drill in reverse until you get through the finish then go forward. May help
  12. so its the same deal... but just out of interest, which type of switch do people prefer, sealed or un-sealed
  13. im really intersted in learning to do a fret dress on an old crap 2nd hand guitar that i have no intention to play after. What i wanted to ask is, do you know of a really good guide to doing this. I know there are some on the PG.com site but maybe you could let me know the good ones if you know of any? And would you recomend me starting to do this, ive been doing repairs for a few months now and an interested in getting into the harder stuff. Thanks
  14. I think the only way to tell is by listening to the sound of the guitar and deciding if it is single or humB, don’t really know any other way. actually this is getting real inventive and its really just a stab in the dark because I don’t know alot about pickups but what if you made a tool like this "continuity tester" and put one wire on a pole on one side of the pickup and the other wire on the other side, if the light comes on is running as a humbucker and if not a single. and maybe of its a single connect one wire to a pole on one side and the other wire to some wire some where (just have a play around) and try this for each side to see which one makes a connection to find which is running in single. This maybe the most ridiculous thing ever written but if it was me I’d start doing weird test like that. Hope i helped.
  15. i saw an epi LP that was yellow, it was one of the coolest guitars. It was a real fluro yellow.
  16. this maybe nothing to do with this but the first time i tried to wire a pickup i wired it as a single coil not humbucker, so if you think you fluked it just make sure its not doing that if your not sure. Just a bit of self experiance cheers.
  17. He means complete the circuit before it reaches any of your guitars electronics. The normal way a guitar is wired is the two wires that come out of the input jack connect to different parts of the guitar The Hot wire connects to one of the three things coming out of the vol pot or a switch or something. The ground wire connects to the top of a pot or something anyway when the switch is off it needs to connect these two wires so that all pots and pickups do not have any connection to the amp and when it is on is needs to function normal. I can't think of one switch that could so that right now but that may be because im a bit lost today. The only way I can think of right now would require 3 switches
  18. There was a guitar i saw on the net that had LED's on all the inlays up the fret board, use the same idea but with the sound meter thing so you get this light flying up the neck when every you play. Man thats so crazy, what is this **** im smoking anyway
  19. Hi, i hope im not asking a question that has been asked before, even though i know it probably has if i it isnt a stupid question but i have looked at the ProjectGuitar site with no luck. I have a squire guitar, 3 single pickups with 1 vol and 2 tone with 5 way switch. I need to install a humbucker into the bridge position. I've done all the hard work and the pickup in installed except for the wiring. The humbucker has three wires plus a ground wire. They are red green and white. Sorry i cant give the brand cos its all at work, i wish i could remember but all i know it is pretty crap. So anyway, the pickup came with the red and white wires soldered together so i im guessing they need to stay that way. I soldered the ground on and i was playing around with the green wire on parts of the switch and the pickup gave sound if i put the wire on three different contact points i which these were |*| | |*|*|*| | | 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (there is a chance that 1, 3, 4 and 5 work but i cant remember for sure) The points 4 and 5 were connected together and already have wires on them, wires are also on all the other places that didnt work. I had the switch all the way down when i was playing around with the wire. The problem i have is that on all those points that worked i got a very bad buzz. What am i doing wrong? Thanks Matt Webster
  20. na, you can't actually see it in the photo, i just posted it so everyone could see the finish on the guitar. yeah, I think I may just leave it, for the trouble that it takes to fix I wont worry. But I will save everyone’s ideas and if I got to resell it I may try and fix it. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  21. whats the difference between the A and the B on Pots? Does it affect the sound of the guitar? Just wondering cos i got a stack of pots and they are A and B.
