  1. Crap, its basically my only guitar too, aside from this terrrible strat copy i started out with haha, i guess RA16's right, i got what i paid for i guess its going to be a project to work on when i get a better guitar, until then, thanks for the help!
  2. Thanks for the help it's looking a lot better than i thought it would and it looks like i'll be able to finish before the school years over thanks all
  3. im not sure if he sanded it right down to the wood or not, but would it not have occurred if he had?
  4. I paid $100 to get a complete paintjob done T-T with pinstripes from far away itlooks alright but when you get closer... pinstripe mounting rings pinstripe again deep crack not looking too good, and its getting worse and worse every time i look at it =S
  5. scale length of the neck i bought is 25.5 inches I took a ruler and measured down the neck, with the end starting at the leading edge of the nut, and this is what i came up with with the mounting rings on thered be less than an inch of room inbetween the pickups =S Intonations all i need to worry about, but i'm wondering why other guitars that have similar scale lengths, fret numbers and double locking bridges have much more space between the pickups? It makes me wonder if i'm doing something wrong with the plans
  6. Hi all, I'm making an aggressive Jem style guitar for wood class (bolt on, double locking trem, all maple T-T) and have already purchased the neck. I'm borrowing a friends book (Build your own electric guitar by martin oakham) but i have very few classes to finish the body blank and hand it in. It's easily enough time to rout all of the cavities but I need to figure out whats wrong with my plans before I can finish it. I've measured the scale length from the leading edge of the nut to where the saddle should be on an OFR (double of length from leading edge to 12th fret > 25.5 inches). It looks about right until i measure for the pickups and theres only about 4 3/4 inches of room between the trem cavity and the end of the fretboard, when there should be closer to 6. Theres not much room between the pickups and im wondering if this is purely cosmetic, or if it will affect my tone. I'd like to fix it however as its not very pleasing to the eye. If anyone could explain what i'm doing wrong thatd be great Thanks!
  7. Yup, a jackson rr i tried taking pictures with a high resolution camera but the cracks arent even showing up they're extremely visible from about 10 feet away though in person, and more become apparent as you get closer, they're popping up everywhere from around the pickup bezels to the trem cavity to along the bevels. The finish looked really nice before but its starting to get really messed up. Would the shape have much to do with it?
  8. I had my guitar re-painted about a month ago by some dude, i'm pretty sure he used spray cans when i got the guitar back it looked fantastic, except i noticed all these little cracks forming around the black pinstripes after all thsi time ive started to notice many more deeper cracks forming around the body and making my guitar look pretty ugly. Ive taken great care of it since noticing the cracks but nothing seems to be working to keep it from getting worse what might be causing this =S ? Thanks
  9. Judging from my post count i'm sure most of you can assume i'm quite new to the forum. I'm planning on making a neck thru guitar as my first project (buying the neck and making body wings) and would greatly appreciate it if they could be answered with the least amount of flaming possible =D I have two questions addressing neck thru construction that I could not find after searching through previous posts and many other sites. 1. Is Neck Angle required for a neck thru guitar that's going to use a recessed floyd rose bridge? I have read that it's required, and that it's not needed, so i'm slightly confused at the moment. 2. The body wings are glued on after being cut to the final shape right? (Sounds stupid when I ask -.-;; but i'd prefer to double check rather than get tooled after buying a neck and investing time into building it) Thanks for taking the time to read and maybe answer
  10. I've been on the site for a few hours searching through the various reference topics and many other sites and I can't seem to find any tutorials on how to make a neck thru guitar. Most of the tutorials involve constructing bolt ons and hardtails. If there are any tutorials on how to make a neck thru with a double locking trem could someone drop me a link ??
