  1. sad i have to go to sleep now, 2:21 am in Spain XD don't forget those pics, i really like how your project is turning out.
  2. or maybe that there are two things that can get damaged and to worry about. i had always prefered combos, but if you like having several amps, head + cab gets you more sound combinations. i like it now more. just a matter of taste, if you are going for several amps, i would go for head+cab
  3. i´ll go sperzels, i went party yesterday and overslept to win the auction i was watching on ebay for the schaller, so now there are only sperzels. thanks to let me know they are good, i had no input on a comparison between both besides what i had read searching comparing them with others. I´ll let you know when i get them. bye and thanks
  4. Which do you think is better, both six in line, for a strat, locking tuners. Tha schaller are the original replacement for a strat. The sperzel look uglier for me but cost 10 dollar less. It's my first locking so i expected to know from you which mechanics are best. Thanks
  5. i guess that is what you should have done to start with.
  6. if i lived in the states/canada i would have one. Indeed i´m thinking of bringing one to Spain when i go to Washington next January/February. They wire it for our mains!!!! god that is great. just too much gear i would like to bring from there i didn't realise maybe you just want to use the vetta and not the live xt, sounds reassonable to me. if it has a loop give a tube preamp a go, i personally love how it feels in my setup. about coloration, just tastes. anyway it's going to be digitallized in a cd but everything can sound good if done right. glad it helped. byes
  7. I had thought about it several times since i got stuck in the fretting part with my project. Wish i had the time to give it a try. hope some of the educated builders sheds some light on this
  8. that looks like my set-up: boss gt-8 >> poweramp >> speakers. i do like my tone a lot, and the gt is really tweakable. my poweramp is a beast, i never tried a solid state because i got a good deal, it is an engl. The cab also does, but it is not as good. Lately i've bouth a tube preamp and i use it in the loop of the gt but i´m afraid you cannot do that with the line 6. to me it makes no sense. if you like the sound of the pod stay with it. if you want a tube sound get a tube preamp (to use it for recording) you can have a nice one for round 250$ (like a mesa v-twin for example). if the problem is that you like your presets but you miss something in them it may be a problem with eq also. that is of course very reasonable. yesterday i went to my friend's house, he's got a pod 2.0. i don't really like pod (i miss options compared to my gt) but it does sound really good. i started to play with headphones but soon my head started to sweat and i connected to the return effect input of his peavey classic 30, the difference is huge to me. Of course that is a lot more money involved but a lot more to tweak. The amp, the speaker, the mic. You could ask a friend to bring an amp, get a mic from another (or use one of yours if you have) connect everything and give it a try. if you like playing with things that is going to suit you well XD, then again you won't be able to record at late night I have explained things a bit without order, hope my opinion helps. Jesus
  9. ok, after the exam i had on the evening i went the where i play and plug the thing, i used a plastic thing to hit slowly both tubes and one of them reproduced on the amp the noise. microphonic tube i guess. ggggggg. it was the most probable thing. ok, time to replace it, what do you suggest me???? i could go with an engl replacement, but it is the most expensive 23 € plain, 33 € first quality. lol i don't think i could afford both with those prices. tad, mesa, sovtek?? thank you very much
  10. if i knock on the pedal i can hear the knock on the amplifier. Not knocking it with a hummer, just mi fingers. Could it be a microphonic tube or is just normal. i can hear with the gain and volume set high, the same spot where i get hum. any idea??
  11. what would the process be to do it?? thanx
  12. Hi, i would like to compile some advices when designing pcb for a preamp schematics. I guess the most important are about the placement of the tracks. I will do a tutorial on this thing btw. All your comments are wellcome. THANXXX
  13. Hi, i've read some comments on a french site (helped by google translator XD) saying that there is a pot between the valves to adjust the symetry because the tubes are ac powered. Could this be the source of the noise?? i've noticed that the screamer has something called tr2 (i dunno what the sign stands for) in the bottom right side of the schematic. any help please?? my tech is on holiday, so i cannot ask him till a week or so, i´d love to see some feedback. even with the hum i love the sound it has god
  14. engl e-430 tube toner: operator's manual harmony central review engl screamer schematic it is just the preamp section of a screamer in pedal format. sounds great, but i want that noise away. i´ll try to record some samples of the hum to see if that helps identify the kind of problem it is. Howevery i'm using it connected to the desk, haven't tried to the poweramp yet. it should be working right in this setup anyways. any help welcome. thanks!
  15. said nothing, still hum, no ground loop
