    anyone have a good outline drawing of the LP DC/LP Junior?? I have 2 nice chunks of black korina and i'm going to build a set of LP Jr twins. one with 2 p90s and one with 2 humbuckers.

    when did all the close minded assholes show up? I dig your design, and I think the hockey stick headstock is much better than the pointy headstock would look. my opinion tho.

    I'm not abig fan of basswood. I'd opt for the mahogany or a good piece of ash.

    Bill Lawrence L500XL is pretty fat on the bottom. super high output tho, I'm not a fan of that. I like low output 'buckers.

    you also have to worry about the neck pickup. it would be a bit tricky to mount a single coil, and probably near impossible with a humbucker unless you used a slightly thicker body and maybe some well-measured screws. I've been kicking around the idea something like that of a reverse half neck-thru set neck type design.

    heh, I always put everything together and play it and let it sit around for a couple weeks before finishing it.

    I've always cut the bodies out first. just find your center line and work from there. There is also a product on the market, I think from 3M, that is a foam/neoprene type mesh that you lay on any table and it grips the piece from the bottom. This worked great until I spilled some thinner on it. =) Otherwise, I just use my carpet-top bench.

    I have a sketch of my body shape I want, but it's of course, small. Anyone have a good way to transfer a small design to a full scale size. I'm thinking of maybe tryin to rig a home brew overhead projector and just taping a piece of poster size paper to the wall and tracing. Just looking for ideas here.

    definitly use super glue. the thinner the better.

    oak was used in alot of old fender lap and pedal steel guitars. I'm currently building a lap steel out of white oak, and while for the most part it's easy to work with, it likes to split when you go across the grain with a file or router. so just be mindful of that and i think you'd be fine.

    when I do setups, sometimes the frets loosen up, and it really kills sustain. if you run your fingers down the frets, and it kinda sounds "hollow" then you need to apply a little bit of super thin superglue (model airplane glue) to each side and then just usa a SHARP razor blade and clean it up. Works Wonders.

    best bridge I ever played with floyd's name on it was the fender/floyd vintage style locking bridge. I loved my strat with that on it. Wish I could get a 7 string version. =/

    you can shape the feeler guage if you put a bit more time into it. rough the edge, then take some fine sandpaper and clean it up.

    most low end guitars for all big companies are made at the samick factory in korea. I know squire and epiphones are.

    buy yourself one of those feeler guage sets. that have like, 50 different thicknesses. Take one (I'd suggest slightly smaller than the string guage for that slot) and put it in a vise. take a rough file and grind the edge of it until it's rough. there ya go, unlimited nut files for about $4usd.

    I roughed mine with a small rasp, then round files and wrapping a dowel rod with sand paper to finish.

    an nm, if your tryin to get that flush look. someone else here did that.

    go to stewmac and buy the screws used to hold the mounting rings in. tap small pilot holes where the pickup mouthing screws line up in the bottom of the pickup cavity. place a piece of foam rubber under the pickup, put the screws threw the pickup mounting ear holes (may need to push and twist a bit, but they will fit) and then use a small screw driver to thread them into the pilot holes you drew, and BAM, your good to go.

    Well, This is how it turned out after diggin around on the net a bit.... looks like a PRS, but the backs a little rounder like the LPs and Axis.     Yeah, More drematic in the horns section. I'm looking for good body photos of each, not something done already.

    Going to start on my 7 string and I want to marry the les paul double cutaway with the EB axis/EVH shapes. 2 of my favorite. I have a small scetch of what I want, but I need something to compair proportion to. Thanks.

    You have my very deepest respect, anyone willing to kill a fender deserves respect LOL I completely agree... I think I've hated fenders pretty much all my life LGM. Its very liberating to destroy them. I think fender should build all there guitars like this!!!!! haha! poo alex! If they did all their guitars like that, then what would you have to tear up!!!!
