  1. I have been researching guitar amps and i am now looking to buy one. For the longest time i had my heart set on the peavey xxx, i love the crunch of it as i play in a southern rock metal band and i hate the new metal sound. I recently heard about the peavey penta, i love all of the options because i also play alot of southern rock, classic rock, and dirty blues blues music. But is the high gain setting good. I was wondering if anyone has it or has ever played on it and are all of the settings really good sounding. It would help out alot if you gave me your thoughts on this amp. Thanks
  2. Hey i am looking for a new amp hopefully tube but if it is not much of a sound difference then i dont mind. I am not a tone freak and i do not play with crazy high distortion i play just like a heavy crunch sound. Now i am wondering if anyone has tried the solid state series carvin half stack Cause that is more in my price range or the carvin tube half stack cause i could afford that if it was a big difference in sound. I just want anyone who has those amps just to tell me how they like them or tell me of another amp that is really good under $1000 (i am looking for a half stack around 100w) Thanks
  3. Also how could i convert a floyd rose to a hardtail i saw the thing on stewmac but is there anyway i can do it without buying that product?
  4. I am planning on buying a fender stratocaster HH, i cant afford the american $900 one so i am planning on buying the standard but i can only find it in tremolo, i was wondering if there is a bridge that will convert the tremolo into a hardtail without having to do any conversions on the body or anything Thanks for the help.
  5. Ok thanks for all the help i was expecting that they are probly just cheapo parts but with a cheapo price what can you expect. I am having trouble finding the guitar fetish store on ebay maybe you could send a link or something i am just not good with finding things. Thanks for all the help
  6. Has anyone used the parts on www.guitarpartsusa.com they are very cheap and i am on a budget so they fit in my budget fine. But if they are not good i would rather just wait and get good quality parts. Are the necks high quality? Do the pickups sound good?. If anyone has any info please reply or if anyone knows any other stores with very good prices that sell high quality stuff please tell me. Thanks
  7. Ya but i was thinking of something for more live performances just to add some effcts to the vocals i checked guitar center and they want like $300 for the digitech one that has tons of effects but all i want is distortion they had nothing to offer me there
  8. I know this is not the right forum but any question I ask here I get good answers too so thanks guys. But I am looking for a vocal effects pedal mainly just for distortion to make a voice kind of computerized sounding or just a little scratchy. I cant find anything thats not a multi effects pedal. I was thinking maybe I could get 2 adapters that change microphone cables into 1/4" cables then just run it through a regular guitar distortion pedal. Would this work? If so what pedal would be best. Please reply any info would help
  9. Well thanks for all the help I have a better understanding of what i have to do now. First I have no idea what a warlock has to do with Metallica but he was in love with Metallica and I guess he had to have a pretty metal looking guitar. Second if you have noticed i used good puncuation in this reply (but I have seen alot worse than my writing). Third I was planning on just pulling out the pickup and seeing how it was put in, but then i thought if I could find a tutorial or find someone who knew it would be alot easier than just guessing. And lastly i know that putting a pickup ring is not that big of a task but then again wouldnt anything that gives you a better understanding of how to build/put together guitars count as experience? Thanks for all the help
  10. Thanks for the help the big question i guess of mine was what order you put the screw spring and pickup I am doing this on a freakin awesome BC Rich Warlock flat top no pickguard i am not that much into the whole metal thing but this guitar has the best feeling neck i have ever played its not a cheap guitar its one of the like 700 dollar ones my friend hates it though (he is one of them people that goes through fazes and gets everything he wants cause he is freakin rich) he used to be obsessed with metalica thats why he got the guitar now he is into the Screamo/Hardcore thing he is selling it to me for like $150 how lucky am i Thanks for the help and if now that u know what type of guitar it is and stuff if you have any more info please tell me
  11. I am going to school in october to become a luthier/ guitar tech and i will soon know how to this but in my friends guitar the pickup screws that hold the pickups in place are missing (one missing in the neck and one in the bridge) so each pickup still has one screw holding it in place i am buying a couple of pickup mounting kits from StewMac and the screws and springs and mounting screws, i checked the tutorial section and the only that that it had on pickup hight was how to adjust it well i need to now how to install these mounting rings and springs, if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it (i need the guitar for an upcoming show and instead of going to my local guitar center and paying 45 dollars for 2 new screws and five minutes of labor i decided to do it myself, plus it will give me somewhat of experience) Thanks
  12. What magazine is that in and who tried because i would really like to know from someone who has already done it
  13. That is a smart idea what do u think i could use to hold it though super glue or i think its plastic so i could heat it until it got soft and melt it together, any other suggestions would be very helpful
  14. I saw the dimarzio humbucker replacements but the pickup in the junior has a dog ear cover and the dimarzio pickup has two sets of pole pieces so i dont think i could put it in the guitar i was wondering if u knew any way i could put it in the guitar
  15. Hey i am looking for a new guitar i would like to buy a gibson sg standard but i dont have that much. I really like the looks and simplicity of the gibson les paul junior (the price is good too). But i dont know about the single coil p-90 pickup i have never played a guitar with p-90 pickups. But i have played other single coils like strats and teles. Now the music i play i dont need full blown crazy distortion i usually have my gain on 6-7 but will i get a nice warm distortion or am i gonna get a loud sharp annoying distortion that i get out of standard strats. So the question i am asking is should i go for the les paul junior or the equally priced les paul special sl or the sg faded Thanks
