  1. If you fret your necks (acoustics only) after fingerboard is glued on neck (ala many builders) the 1/2 ton model can get a little short in the throw (height under caul) arena. Especially if you use a backing jig to hold the neck while under the press (a requirement). Fingerboard blanks and pre-fitted electric necks are no problem. NV
  2. Here's a couple alternatives: http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts....uffing+Assembly http://www.grizzly.com/products/items-list...22&site=grizzly (RatZ! Type in "buffing assembly" at the search prompt) If on a budget! Fully speed adjustable to boot! Luck, NV
  3. You need to decide on a finish product type that you will be using first. Some products such as polyester require a large needle size ( 1.8 to 2.5) compared to lacquers which spray stock tips (1.5 or so). The wrong tip size will result in poor finish no matter what gun brand or price you pay. Having to replace the tip with the right size can cost as much or more than the initial price of the gun. Settle on a product, get the specs. for the gun needed then buy. Personally, I have had best results from HVLP gravity fed guns. Cheap ones seem to work about as well as the more expensive stuff and up to 95% of the quality of your result will be in your technique. Best, NV
  4. I use a short guitar cable with one end cut off. Loading parts through bridge PU hole attach 1/4" jack to output jack and pull harness into place. Once jack is pulled through hole you can slide on washer and nut before removing plug. Forceps to pull pots and a violin post setter to support from the bottom through the f-hole. Always a pain no matter what but this is the system that works best for me. NV
  5. Try: http://home.flash.net/~guitars/ or http://stewmac.com/ If I wasn't supposed to post web sites my apologies to all. NV
