  1. well setch, this is a thing of beauty!!! very nice tutorial for a noob like me, thank you very much, sir
  2. hi there, nice work so far! where did you get the wood? you're a joiner? keep it up! by the way, you like pointy guitars? check out the washburn hm-20v cheers eddie
  3. i play a dc-5 head (60w version). it's way more versatile than my bandmate's dual rectifier. and i love the eq. got a standard marshall dual-footswitch, now i can switch the eq and reverb! very reliable. onetime someone kicked it from the 4x12, slight crack on the left but that's it. eddie
  4. muaharrrharrrr, try this: http://www.caymanairways.com/trip/sirturtle.html eddie
  5. i like tea! ever tried a cup of hot china wuyuan yasmine? and you can put in your pu-covers and pot-knobs... eddie
  6. i remember a time, when the bill lawrence pus and the stewmacbilllawrence pus looked the same. here in germany a company (www.rockinger.com) builds really nice and affordable pus. e.g. the jay bee custom and the paf-ect. they sound like the tough sons of the sd sh-4 and sh-2 eddie
  7. thank you for your comments! the blanks are 35 - 45 $. from the supplier of gibson, fender, taylor, prs, yamaha... good quality i guess... i think i go for bubinga or sipo. eddie
  8. i see i had an exchange student from canada. she learned the local southgerman dialect (swabian) for over one year. the same time, her brother was in northern germany. back in canada, she could't understand a single german word he was saying like some britface and some texan trying to have a conversation, hehe. so, what happened to the pickup? did you like it? eddie
  9. hi ansil, what do you mean by saying it isnt' really spoken anymore? you're talking 'bout the "old high german"? spoken from 750 to 1050? or "middle high german"? 1050 to 1350? you learned that old crap? had some friends at university who were quite good at it. "Es ist richtig. Meiner zeigt den gleichen Inhalt." => "it is right. mine shows the same content." ?!? so you had a washburn a-15 equipped with this pickup, too? well, it wasn't originally in there, because mine was a three singlecoil-pu guitar. the pre-owner widened the routing (most probably with a chainsaw ) for the humbucker to fit in. the other one came with an (ab)used washburn hm-20v i bought several months ago. did you sell the guitar? i love those 80s washburns with the bulky wonderbar2001 bridges. eddie
  10. hi there, i want to build 4-string bass, preci or mm style, bolt-on neck. - ovengkol neck with ebony fretboard - 3mm zebrano or flamed maple top what should i use for the body? the following blanks nearly cost the same: - bubinga - maple - walnut - alder - ash - khaya - sapele - sipo - ovengkol - padouk i'm going for a rich warm sound, passive electronics, so what should i use? thanks eddie
  11. thank you so far. i sent an e-mail to bill and becky (since i live in germany and my spoken english is even more crappy than my written english... ...but isn't/wasn't bill german, too???). i almost forgot. i have another one looking the same. the PRINTED sticker on the back says " '86 XL Bill Lawrence". eddie
  12. hi there, i bought a washburn a-15 with a blade humbucking pu. the sticker on the back says "6-86 XL Bill Lawrence". 4-conductor wire + ground. green-black 8,22 k-ohm. white-red 8,24 k-ohm. = 16,46 k-ohm. is this a genuine bill lawrence pu or one of stewmacs'? thank you for your help! eddie
  13. i got my little bandsaw FOR FREE from a construction company who closed its workshop it's a small three-wheeled metabo thingy but great for body-forming! go and ask joiners or carpenters or look for those lil machines on the 'bay, good luck! eddie
