  1. Roasted ash is brittle. Not sure I am a fan. So because I am too careful sometimes and I am always looking for a reason to use my pull saws I cut the top tremolo hole by hand with a pull saw and a rasp. Savage. The rest was done with conventional means... drill press, etc...
  2. One page reads... Scott R PAF Customs Neck A4 42 Enamel 5000 (5011) Screw 5000 (5018) Slug 7.25 k Some cryptic voodoo indeed.
  3. Look what I found... Good thing too cause I thought I lost it.
  4. Here is the tool you didn't know you needed. A polepiece setter is simply a .25" thick piece of ABS with a .187" hole on one side for strat magnets and .195" on the other for Tele magnets (mine is actually a .25" for Fat Poles or Quarter Pounders as Seymour Duncan calls them). It lets you hold the magnet square and wack it with a hammer without hitting your fingers or setting it crooked. I used to just use my bench vice to do this but using the setter is way faster.
  5. You notice I didn't show the side of the spacer with the actual measurements on it, right? Pickups are still voodoo. And I am pretty sure this set will be like the set I built for you... if I can find my little black book with all the details...
  6. Warmoth Strat for my friend. It is roasted ash. I am trying to figure out if I like the tuners slanted or straight. (If it was mine slanted)
  7. BTB Pickup bobbin/baseplates done. I think I am going to make nice wood covers for them.
  8. Finally I am starting on a Hot Rodded Strat Set for a friends guitar. I am just building the pickups and assembling it . A good use for an old cutting board. When you are trying t o line up the magnets use the hole...
  9. And here is an Actual set of J Bass pickups for my brothers J.
  10. For the BTB I am designing my own pickups. I decided on a J Bass like humbucker in the neck and a Blade Humbucker for the bridge. I am going to wind the JBass bobbins traditional so at least one of the pickups won't suck.
  11. Fit well enough I was able to use it with the stock back plate from the ESP. Nothing wasted.
  12. I have been busy lately with life things. Here is a few weeks worth of an hour here and an hour there type work. I haven't routed a rear cover by hand in years... so I made a template on Robo RAD and used it Turned out well enough.
  13. Save the bits. Burn the rest. It will taunt you if you don’t.
  14. My brother forgave me for cutting it up. He is not getting it back...
  15. Trying to get an angle that shows the top in at its best. Back is so nice I should have done it purple heart on the top as well
  16. Worked pretty well. The seem is as close as if I had clamped it with 100 clamps. The seem on the front is fine. The join line is very visible but I don't really care on this one.
  17. Back in the day I was always inspired by @Drak Here are a few pictures i found. These are not my guitars. I am pretty sure the 2 teles are built by @Drak The blue one is definitely from the forum but not sure if it belongs to @Drak
  18. I like the Iommi machine as well. But I came to see the steerhead Teles.
  19. Been there done that hated it shoulda sanded it back and started over. I have had success with Mohawk and Behlen blush removers.
