  1. pics dont work, from what i've seen though, looks awesome. How long have you been building?
  2. cool, there's another router book called "router magic" that shows how to make a duplicator for carvings and things like that, i thought it might be cool for carved tops, but it looks sort of difficult, and for me i think carving tops by hand would make me a better guitar builder guy
  3. if you make a lot of guitars that are right handed, and then one day someone asks you to make them a left handed guitar, while your working keep telling yourself this is a left handed guitar. I drilled the holes for 2 volumes and 2 tones on the wrong side of a les paul i was making for my brother. but I patched the holes up and did a deep sunburst.
  4. I've seen some Carvin guitars that rout a pocket for the TOM to lower it to the body so you would'nt have to angle the neck
  5. got the info i needed actually, miracle of the internet, thanks anyway brian
  6. where do you guys buy u channels at? i've looked at ace hardware and places like that but they're too big. also i've seen aluminum channels, are they as good as the steel? thanks
  7. i'd like to make one of those out of mohogany and maple. Do you have the dimensions?
  8. thats the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. Excellent job!
  9. i was thinking of doing the same thing awhile back, the plexiglass idea doesnt work well because of the translucent thing you were talking about, but higher grits of sandpaper might work to get back to that clear look, like 1000 grit or something you can get at a car body shop.... also i had the idea of making a molding of the guitar shape i want, then getting some clear liquid that hardens like wood or something at an art store (cant remember the name of it but it was a resin or something that dried clear) and pouring that into the molding. For the pickup cavities you could put a block of wood so the liquid goes around it, but........thats a hell of a lotta work. lastly thick sheets of plexiglass are super expensive...for me atleast, i called american plastics and they told me for a 20 x 16 x 1 3/4 (inches) was about 200 dollars... sorry to be the bearer of bad news man
  10. hmmm....that helps, thanks man
  11. hey, im hoping somebody has an on board preamp schematic for a preamp like this one.... http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p...ch_Preamps.html if you do, will you post it? thank you!
  12. i've been trying to find the explorer's dimensions on the internet but i couldn't find them anywhere except guitarbuild.com, the only problem with that is, both of the CAD programs they have don't work for me. so.... does anyone have the dimensions for the explorer or someplace else on the net i could try? Thanks in advance
  13. thanks man, I figured the last one out from another thread, thanks anyway
  14. hey, this is my first lp i'm building and i was wondering, does the scale go from the nut to the bridge or the nut to the stop piece? also what does putting the bridge at an angle do? Thanks for you time
