  1. I have the same issue.Never completely satisfied with my stuff.
  2. Dang it!That's what I was going to name my first born son... I guess now all that leaves is Cretaceous-4.
  3. I actually have some fossilized dinosaur poop. Not going to use it on inlay though.
  4. Somehow I have missed your Facebook page before now...probably I have been researching dinosaurs and space stuff too much. You have quite a few guitars on there I have not seen before.
  5. String tension is greater on the longer scales.I find I really have to level the frets well on the shorter scales as well.
  6. Welcome.I moved you to this section because this is where the introductions generally take place.
  7. By the way,the wax fills the sanding scratches and will make it appear glossy if it is not an actual flat finish...
  8. People misunderstand matte finishes.A true matte finish has a flattening agent in it that diffuses light...like silica. It will not "buff to gloss".Just because you make the surface shiny by polishing and waxing, that doesn't change the diffused clarity of the matte finish. If you can't tell that it is matte, then you probably either have a very low matte finish or it isn't thick enough to diffuse as much as you want. All finishes start as gloss.Flattening agents are added. Buy "Understanding Wood Finishing" by Bob Flexner and read page 132...If more people owned(and bothered reading) this book there would be a lot less misinformation going around. The book even has illustrations. Of course you can leave a bunch of tiny surface scratches to simulate a flat finish, but your skin contact will eventually gloss it up. In other words, there are two ways to achieve the look...
  9. Check out TooToo mart. It's like a Chinese Ebay sort of thing where most of the venders are exactly what you are talking about. http://www.tootoomart.com/s?kw=guitar&cate=wholesale-musical+instruments Now they are making specific guitars for sale there, but if you look into the factories you can backtrack from there.I looked into it years ago,but the quality of work is way too low for my taste
  10. I don't think the neck attachment is going to be stable enough...As far as volume knob 500k is pretty standard for humbuckers,250k for single coil.
  11. It is a beautiful orange.Makes pumpkins look positively drab.
  12. Those "tuned chambers" are pretty common, like Pros said.In my opinion it is just another aspect of voodoo intended to sell instruments that has no real benefit. Funny how when Gibson started chambering LPs everyone hated it,but when a private builder calls it a "tone chamber" it all of the sudden becomes a thing.
  13. Crows and Ravens are equally intelligent, according to the research.
  14. Oh,btw...the Corvids are way too smart to start an industrial civilization.Obviously they will learn from our mistakes and continue to kick it old school. Besides, what use is there for all that stuff when you can fly and have no natural predators?
  15. If you are not mental, don't have a substance abuse problem,or don't have ADD,you are not a proper musician. All three at once makes you great.
  16. Most of my favorite old guitars are Gibson Explorers, and they always have that tenon gap under the neck pup. After years of enjoying the magic of those guitars I have no problem at all leaving that gap in some of mine as well.
  17. No,they did an experiment where they captured several ravens on a college campus while wearing Mike Meyers masks(the killer, not the comedian),then released them after annoying the crap out of them. Months later the ravens were still dive bombing everyone who wore the masks...but not just any mask, only the Michael masks...and left everyone else alone no matter what mask they might be wearing,as long as it wasn't the Michael mask.. Not only that, but other ravens who were never involved in the capture also joined the dive bombing, suggesting higher communication as well as great memory and facial recognition. Also, flocks have long been known to avoid certain areas for years after even one of their number has been killed there with a gun, taking great detours. I myself have walked out doors as a kid with a wooden mock up of a rifle and had the crows merely look at me even as I pointed it at them only to walk back in,grab my pellet gun,and have them fly away as soon as they saw the real gun. There is no fooling a crow/raven.Experiment on your own...they are extremely intelligent. Not only that, but the old story of the crow that raised the water level of the vase high enough to drink by dropping in pebbles is true. The same college ran an experiment with a crow/vase/pile of pebbles and two out of three crows immediately started putting in pebbles...in some cases turning the pebbles so they would drop in even though they seemed to large for the opening. The third crow still figured out the pebble trick, but it took him a few minutes of eyeballing the vase and the pebbles to have it click for him.
  18. Welcome.Did you know the Raven is so intelligent that it can recognize a human by our facial features after only seeing us once?
