  1. move your bed closer to your computer
  2. only one pickup has that pantera crunch, and that is the dimebucker.great pickup but if you play speed riffs such as slayer it gets a little sloppy.only one pickup i have found has enough clarity for slayer and that is the emg 81.but for pantera the dimebucker is the only choice.that's why i put different pickups in all my guitars,no one pickup does it all.but that other guy is right about the jb.great pickup and alot of the heavier rock bands still use it.but rich i think you have enough guitars that if you put different pickups in every guitar, you would probably have every kind of pickup they make!you should try to get a discount for buying in bulk.and dean should give you free guitars for all the good word of mouth you give them.ya know what's funny?every time i think of dean i am reminded of looking at the sears catalog as a 14 year old kid daydreaming about having one of those guitars(even though all sears had was the really cheap ones)to this day i have never put my hands on a dean.
  3. don't forget the lovelyand buxom young women milking cows in the countryside(ever watch national lampoon's european vacation?)seriously though i hear it's a great country.i must say i never thought of the netherlands as producing guitarists such as yourself, but i don't know that much, never having been outside of the u.s.
  4. that is a great tecnique which i have never thought of.i guess that's my fault for not being a steve vai fan.he's a great guitarist(obviously)but i don't like his style as much as satriani or eric johnson.on an unrelated note, that made me think of stevie ray vaughn and i am wondering if you have ever heard of him where you are from.he gets alot of play around austin but i am curious if he is known in other countries such as yours.
  5. well there you go alex, that could be your next guitar project.if it was me i would make the top horn thicker to support the top strap button.i have the feeling the one on ebay has it behind the neck pocket.i hate it when guitars take a dive.
  6. well truth be told i wouldn't pay $1500 for any novelty guitar.you should see the guitar i saw in a pawn shop about a month ago.it was made to look exactly like one of those mirrored beer signs you see in bars and pool halls(bud light if i remember right).it was a charvel, had one cheap pickup at the bridge, and they wanted $600 for it.who would play a $600 beer logo?
  7. nope i'm ashamed to admit it,but i still like it.is there something wrong with me?
  8. i understand why you don't like it,but i prefer it over the original because it resembles an rg,which i think is a pretty good looking guitar.but i think it would look better with a higher quality paint job.oh well there's no accounting for my taste.(i also like girls with freaky colored hair and pierced everything so what do i know?)
  9. now how can you not like that guitar i admit i ussually have better taste but come on.maybe you should put it on your computers as wallpaper.you'll grow to love it. p.s at least it's not that godawful shark guitar (halfway down the page)
  10. hey lgm what do you think of this? jem nevermind the link won't work
  11. i think this is pretty cool
  12. don't mean to depress you but you may have more money available now than you will after college.unless you don't get married.the older you get the more stuff you have to pay for.houses, cars, wife, kids(idon't have any kids but i hear they're expensive).enjoy being able to buy what you want now cause after your married you'll have to ask permission.it doesn't matter how much i make cause whatever it is my wife spends it.it all just goes"into the budget"if i was single i would have about 100 guitars but as it is i only have 4(plus pieces of 2)be proud to be a "poor college freshman"cause that's the most fun you'll ever have.(unless you invent something and get rich) man i depress myself! p.s. off the subject but when i was in high school my teacher was asked if it sucked so much being a teacher why did he keep doing it?my teacher replied"it's better than death"how's that for uplifting?
  13. excuse my ignorance but what is a good price for one of those guitars and why is an ibanez that expensive?i thought top of the line ibanez went for $2000 max.
  14. i have the same problem and you know what i decided?i am going to build all of them at the same time.the wood is the cheapest part(except for ornamental tops) so i am going to buy enough to build about 4 of them at the same time.i will use the same type of bridge on all of them so i can just order one to take dimensions from.that way i can use the down time from one guitar to work on another, then when i have them all finished and hanging in my closet i will buy the hardware as i can afford it and bring them to life one at a time.
  15. one thing i have noticed, some people are defending him based on agreeing with some of his opinions(including me)but noone reccomends doing business with him.that probably says something.am i wrong?any reccomendations on his behalf?
  16. all right thank you.i was under the impression that he had his own shop and all his guitars were made under his supervision.
  17. so vh-guitar store, you sound like you have met him, what is your opinion of his honesty as far as his quicksilver and scorpion guitars go?i still think the scorpions are a great alternative to ibanez as they are no more expensive than the top of the line models but are much more made to order.just once in my life i would like to have a really superb guitar.in my 12 years of playing i have never played a guitar that was up to my standards.ibanez is o.k. but you only have two choices;mahogany or basswood.it's wise to listen to what other people say but i have to wonder how unbiased people are going to be on an ibanez oriented forum when mr.roman is the most outspoken critic of ibanez.for the record when i reworked my schecter(which mr.roman warns against)i took my neck off and found that the fit was so poor at the neck pocket that at the factory set up they used a piece of 220 grit sandpaper(yes sandpaper)as a neck shim on the side to make it fit tighter.my wife's esp f 100;same bad fit but in front of the neck this time.these are low end guitars to be sure but they cause me not to recommend these brands of guitars to any of my friends, even though i am sure the top of the line esp's are better but, when you have to order a custom guitar for upwards of $3000 which you will never see until you have already put at least 1/2 down,it makes you cautious.
  18. just keep in mind that if you want to use a tremelo then you want the most stable one you can find, but if you don't want to use a tremelo then you don't want it on your guitar no matter how good it is.tremelos are a huge hassle.everytime you change strings, everytime you change the tuning on your guitar you will hate it.the only reason to have one is to use it.once you learn to use it you will love it and won't be able to live without it.i have 3 of them just so i can keep them set up at different tunings pluss i have one fixed bridge which i use to figure out songs because it's much easier to tune to an album.ibanez just put out a line of fixed bridge super strats so check it out
  19. i think he means country as in whery country folk live, not as in like ethiopia(by the way not many music stores in ethiopia)i live in the country it takes me an hour to get to the music store.but i buy about 50 picks and a dozen sets of strings at a time.
  20. not any wood filler i ever used.it was smooth and almost like plastic
  21. just take your neck down to the local hardware store and find one to fit.
  22. just my 2 cents but i dislike the swimming pool under the pickgaurd too.it takes wood away from where you need it most for tone.fender also does this.a friend paid $800 for a usa fender and it was done this way.he was very unhappy.the old fenders and g&ls everyone loved were not swimming pool models.not taking up for roman but i agree on this one.play 2 of them side by side and you will be very upset with the difference in sound quality.
  23. a few months ago i stripped the finish off of my schecter.under the paint was this almost wood colored substance which was very hard and was difficult to sand off,but i got it all off, stained the wood, and clearcoated it.when i put it back together it sounded alot better.what was this stuff and why was it destroying my guitars tone?makes me want to strip all my guitars.
  24. well hush my mouth.thanks for the info lgm,if this many people have had problems it must be more than just gossip or hearsay.too bad, those quicksilvers are nice looking instruments.oh well plenty of handmade b.c.rich's and custom esp's to choose from.
  25. they all stay in tune if ya don't use em.the difference comes when your a dive bomb nut like me or alex.(don't be modest alex you know you are)
