  1. So I can skip over the break contact?
  2. I hate starting topics with simple quick questions, so I am just going to add on to this topic. I bought a mono jack, but it has 2 conductors and is a closed circuit, can I still hook this up? Instead of having two solder terminals it has three and that throws me for a loop.
  3. I recently bought a JB. Haven't played it yet, still working on wiring all the pots and such, but from reading reviews it seems to be one of the best well balanced pickups around.
  4. Check this site out: http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/models.asp?t=e Hope that helps ya!
  5. Couple more good sites to check out are: http://www.tonepad.com/ http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/inde...4&board=6.0 Hope this helps you out and good luck!
  6. thanks rhoads, was just making sure before ordering the parts.
  7. I am planning to wire a Seymour Duncan Sh-4 JB using this wiring diagram from seymourduncan.com http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schem...1h_1v_1sas.html My question is if I can still put a tone knob in this mix. I was looking and I could not see any reason why I couldn't. Just have it running off the usual place, where the black wire connects? I just want to double check! Thanks, -Pex657
  8. That picture reminds me about an idea I had along time ago, Sadly I did not have the tools and skill to make the guitar. Fingerboard is looking nice, can't wait to see more update pics
  9. Hey all!! First I want to say that this is a great and welcoming community. I have spend many hours reading the forums when I was suppose to be reading for class, and I never found it a waste of time. My personal favorite section is the In Progress Section of the forums, you people are just amazing with what you create and actually make. Cheers to you all and I hope all your guitar dreams come true! With the thank you out of the way, I am finally given the chance to join all of you in this life hobby. I always dreamed of building a guitar but sadly I lived in an apartment and did not have the space and resources to make my dream come true. I have moved my self into a house and now have room for the tools. Sadly I won't get any of the tools until December (birthday gift), but I am not planning to waste any time. I have purchased this books to read until then: 1.) Make Your Own Electric Guitar by Melvyn Hiscock 2.) Guitar Player Repair Guide: How to Set-Up, Maintain, and Repair Electrics and Acoustics by Dan Erlewine 3.) How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great!: The Electric Guitar Owner's Manual (Guitar Player Book) by Dan Erlewine 4.) Another book.. but forgot the name and don't have it with me... it comes with a guitar plan already.... if that helps Hopefully by the time the tools come, I will be ready to start on my first build. My questions are: 1.) Are there any more books that are worth the read? 2.) Which tools should I start(brand, price, ..etc) with? Thanks, -Pex657
  10. I have searched some topics and read over them and it seems that sometimes it is just easier to leave a dent or scrape then to try to fix it. Here are the thinks that I would like to fix: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e168/Pex657/P1000163.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e168/Pex657/P1000164.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e168/Pex657/P1000165.jpg For the neck, I have read that superglue will work, will it? Are these things fixable, or better just to leave them? Thanks, -Pex657
  11. If any one is in need of a nice sounding pedal that is not costly, I put up my Ibanez Ton-Lok DS7 Distortion Pedal on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  12. I did a little googling and found Fargen Amps, he has one channel tube amps that are hand made but go for around 1k depending on model. Only downfall to them is that they seem that they can't get very loud, god for practicing or very small gigs, with out louder instruments. http://www.fargenamps.com/
  13. Are there any one channel tube amps?
  14. My friend is trying to sell me this Ibanez guitar. I am having trouble figuring out which type of Ibanez this is. I think is an AX, but they don't have the some one on the site. The closest one that I can find ont ibanez site is http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=AXS42 . [EDIT]No need for pictures any more[/EDIT] I am wondering what this guitar would be worth in this condition? Thanks, -Pex657
  15. It seems like a very nice amp, but a little out of my price range.
  16. Like many other people on this forum, I am in search for a new amp for my self. I currently own a Crate XT120R. It has 2 12" speakers. I am now looking for something with better tone. I use pedals and have a Jackson with EMG 81/85 pickups. I am looking for a simple amp with no amp modulators or extra features that I won't use. Need something with great tone, that when I put my pedals on they will get their sound from the tone coming out. I am very interested in tube-amps and my price range is anything under $1000. Amps that sound very good and for a price that is in my range are: Carvin MTS412 http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?...r=MTS412&CID=GA Randall RG200G2 http://www.randallamplifiers.com/products/.../g2/g2heads.asp with the Randall R412CK Cab I was wondering if any one owns these, heard anything about them, or have other amp suggestions. Thanks. -Pex657
  17. Since I don't know much about electronics, I am just trying to think logically. Use the normal guitar ouput jack and use some like http://www.midi-classics.com/i/p24173.jpg to connect it to the delay input. Then use the delay output as the normal guitar output jack. Would this work? EDIT: Reading through DIYstompboxes.com and found something that arion wrote.
  18. It seems that the Rebote2 Delay from Tonepad.com would work for my needs. It seems small enough not to take up too much room and still give the desired effect. Now I am wondering how to change to having and input and ouput connections in the guitar to just an input. Psw that would seem like the best thing to use to get rid of the battery problem.
  19. I was also found Arion DDM-1 that is also $29 That seems what I will have to do. Since I can not start this project fully now, might be a couple years. I am getting everything ready and learning everything that I can. Planning to have one Seymour Duncan SJBJ-1 JB Jr, one volume knob, and then the delay affect.
  20. I saw one of your posts when i typed in onboard delay in the search option. I was also thinking the only way to do this is to probably kill a pedal. Thanks for the info.
  21. I was wondering if there is some where on the market something like a Delay effect that can be put onboard in the guitar? Thanks, -Pex657
  22. I was reading an advertisment for a product which looks like a plastic stand that you put your amp on. From advertistment: "GRAMMA, the revolutionary isolation riser designed to 'float' any amp, monitor, or wubwoofer, delivering a pruity of tone life you've never heard before." I was wondering if any one knows anything about this or even if it works?
  23. Guaged Saw and Guaged Nut files are sold. Book is on hold.
  24. Neck is on hold now! Pickups are on hold now!
