  1. Why do you glue both sides or a maple veneer top? Is the glue on the topside to provide a clear coat or have i missed something here (coming from the tutorial) Thanks
  2. My project guitar is coming on nicely now, but i have encountered a problem. The body i have (rear routed superstrat) has a single coil pickup cavity routed into the neck position. No big deal. However, i have never come accross one of these before (newbie!). How do i mount a single coil into this route so its height can be adjusted? Is has no mounting ring like a HB and i dont know what to do! Secondly, is it worth aluminum shielding the pickup cavities, will that help reduce noise? Thanks
  3. my last eBay score was a dirt cheap guitar (cost about $10). Neck is good, body is good but the (rear routed) electronics are screwed. In the refinish i will be removing all electronics. It currently has a volume pot and 2 mini toggle switches. I want to replace this with a 2 x volume and a 3 way switch. However, this will require blocking off the mini toggle holes. What is the best way of doing this? The ways i can think of are 1) Carefully applied woodfiller 2) Dowels in the holes 3) Placing a block in the electronics cavity to block everything and start again Which is the best option? Obviously no3 might effect the types of pot that can be used, an im not in favour of that. Any other suggestions appreciated. Whilst im at it, is it worth shielding the electronics (and pickup?) cavity with aluminuim foil? Will this help reduce hum onstage? Thanks JF
  4. Hi, Im in the middle of doing my first custom paint job, and it has a couple of stripes in it (NOT a Van Halen one, dont want eddie sueing my ass!) What tape or material do i use that will not allow the paint to run underneath it? I though masking tape would do it, but it hasnt worked on my test spraying. Any tips to get the striping right? Many thanks, Steve
