  1. This is probably such a beginer question, but hey, I'm a beginer!!! Are there any general guidelines as to pickup output ratios with regard to standard three pickup stratocasters? From what I've been able to piece together the bridge pickup will be the hottest, makes sense, since less string movement compared to the other two positions. But what are reasonable companions to, say, a bridge pickup with an output of 145mV? Any ideas would be helpful thanks.
  2. Interesting!! As a newbie myself, just finishing the design stages, I'd be interseted in any reply.
  3. I see now, thanks alot for the help. Rock On!!
  4. Thanks for the info. So as I understand you, the only portions that will be "proud" of the guitar body are the saddles?
  5. I'm new to wiring, so I'm sure this topic has come up 1000 times. If you want to wire a DiMarzio Virtual Vintage 2.1 to a phase switch, do you also have to tap the lower coil? I got the impression these pickups are similar to humbuckers, only stacked vs side-by-side.
  6. I am finishing up the blue print stage of a strat style guitar. It will have a Lo Pro tremolo. Question is: Does the unit's base rest above/on the body (like a fixed bridge) or flush with the body (ie.. in the rout)?
  7. I am a new-comer to building. I have read fairly extensively about the tonal qualities of different woods. At this point I'm considering a Strat type body made of Swamp Ash. Also thinking about DiMarzio Virtual single coils. The question is; how does neck/freetboard composition affect tonal quality compared to body composition? What types of woods do you recommend?
