1. This is the image of what I want the guitar I'm actually building to look like. I photoshopped a pic of the Sam Totman signature. I'm not sure how to remove "RG Series" from the headstock without stripping the rest of it. I might leave it on for giggles. And the bridge was an ebay purchase for roughly 150, (153 I think).
2. How different is the Wizard II from the original Wizard? I have an old 760 that I love with an original Wizard. I've seen the WIIs thrown on a lot of cheap newer Ibi's, so I'm thinking it is not as good of a neck, but I'm curious as to 'how' it is worse. Is it a thicker neck? Gotta love the Ibi sharks teeth, though. Great choice of hardware, btw. What version of the Edge is that? [Edit] It has to be an original Edge trem, same as on my 760, and in my mind that is far superior to any they make today. Did you get that off the e-bizzle? Was it greater than 150? I'm curious, because I'd like to upgrade another old guitar I have to this trem. I don't see the posts in the pic, where are you going to get posts for it? Thanks! I actually have yet to play a guitar with the original Wizard neck. It looks like they make 2 different Wizard II necks, the 3 ply for the cheaper models, and the 5 ply for higher end (I think). I like the way the Ibanez S Series plays, so I opted to grab the neck from that guitar (and it seems very common on Ibanez guitars, good for me). As far as where I get posts... I'm not sure. Any 11mm diameter ones will fit the bridge, so I'm thinkin that's just a quick trip to a guitar shop.
3. I know Jimi painted his V, whether he applied a finishing coat to it, I don't know. I'm not sure on the others.
4. I've generated a concept image, but I'm having trouble uploading it right now. It's amazing what you can photoshop these days. I was tooling around Paul Gilbert's website when I found this on the main page: I was thinking of doing it with the standard Ibanez headstock, dual humbuckers, in white, with Edge tremolo and and black hardware. The edited picture I made depicts black binding, which is a definite posibility, but I hadn't been dead set on it yet. So far I've got the headstock/neck (Ibanez Wizard II, off of a 2003 Korean RG), bridge, and some of the electronics. Here's the ebay pics of the neck and bridge, which have already arrived in good condition. http://i4.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/ce/8c/bc2b_12.JPG http://i9.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/ce/8e/14aa_12.JPG http://i16.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/d6/02/0773_1.JPG The plan is to either mangle a lefty Iceman or order a Warmoth. I'm not sure which. Other suggestions for where I can find a suitable body are welcome. General comments are great too.
5. A note about the Ibanez specs provided: Ibanez has several different models of tremolo. The Lo Pro and Edge, as well as the Edge II, Edge III, and the loads and loads of others. The original Edge tremolo bridge is no longer in production, as Ibanez opted to cease using a licensed Floyd (In 2003, if I remember correctly). On the RG570, I double checked the catalog scans on www.ibanezrules.com. That model was available between 1997 and 2002 in the states, and had the original Edge every year. (on a personal note, this solves a problem of mine, I have purchased one of these bridges and need to route the body accordingly. Thanks. ) The serial number is the best place to look for year if you don't know it (I didn't know on my ' 04 JS1000 until I checked yesterday, it plays badass and that's what counts.)
Hey guys I'm new to the forum but have used valuable info from the PG website on and off for a couple of years now. I'm in the process of making templates for a JEM/RG style guitar and would like to know the outside diameter of the Ibanez Edge/Lo-Pro Edge Trem post anchors. IE what size hole do I need to drill?? Thanks G
11mm diameter hole for an original Edge according to the manual I found. How deep I don't know, it's on a non recessed bridge.
