  1. Hey Everyone, i'm working on a project at the moment, it's a body with H/s/H pickup routing. I want to block up the holes for the neck hummer and middle single coil. I will then finish the guitar with a solid colour. Question is, how do i go about filling the holes? Will i be able toget a good finish after the holes are filled? I also want to fill in the holes for the tone pot and 5 way switch (so i will be left with just one volume) i presume that this can be done using a similar method to the filling of the pickup holes? thanks in advance eveyone!
  2. Panic over everyone, i contacted someone with the same problem and discovered that you only need to use one of the wires, the other can hand loose in the cavity! It's all wired up and ready to rock now, might post pics in a fer days ! Thanks anyway russian!
  3. hi everyone, i recently bought a mighty mite pickguard with pickups and switches ready wired for a project strat. All that needs doing is the connections to ground and to the output jack, sounds simple BUT... Coming from the volume pot are 3 loose wires. 1.) live and ground, needs to be soldered to the output jack 2.) Ground wire, needs to be soldered to the bridge claw 3.) Black wire, on the end of this wire is a piece of metal shaped like a loop. No idea what this is for or where it goes! I wondered if it coud be a second ground wire or something because it is the same colour as the ground wire (black) Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hey, i remeber goin to a site not long ago where you could design your own guitar online, there were several guitar types to chose from, i seem to have lost the link n cant find it using the search thing or on google. Thanks in advance
  5. Hey everyone, I've recently started to collect parts to build the guitar i will take to uni. So far i have an 80s jap squier neck, a strat copy body with bridge and everything. The only problem is, i'm having real problems finding tuning pegs for the squire neck. I darent just buy some strat pegs incase the don't fit. The holes are almost exactly 1cm (10mm) in diameter. Is this the standard size? and if so, can anyone point me to a good place to buy pegs that will fit online (gotta ship to UK tho). Thanks everyone!
  6. I've searched online extensively but i can't find anywhere to buy my wood in the UK, idealy i would like a piece of alder or similar cheapish wood to make a strat body with. Any help would be great guys
  7. thanks for the replies. I have an acoustic style bridge spare and was thinking about giving that a try on a prototype. I think i'll just buy a normal bridge, probably a tunomatic or LP Junior style bridge so i can have a higher action
  8. Hi everyone, i'm new to posting but have been surfing here for a while. I have a question, i'm planning to build a lap steel type guitar with a single coil pickup, the problem is that i might not use a metal bridge, in my experience of guitar electronics the earth wire is soldered to the bridge. My question is will i be able to get away with not using a metal bridge and still have the guitar earthed? Thanks in advance guys
