i just bought my first archtop hollowbody electric guitar. i noticed that the bridge is not installed permanently on the guitar, i can lift it right off when i change the strings. is it safe to permanently install it to the guitar? what is the best way? thanks!

hello! i just bought a new jazz box and it was only available in a dark sunburst-like finish. i was wonering if it is possible to remove it and re-finish the guitar with a natural wood finish? a description would be awesome, but products i would need and perhaps some books detailing this that i could grab would also be very useful. i'm really anxious to know how i could do this. you think maybe this would be too hard for me, someone who has never done anything even remotely like wood finishing before in his life? even so i'm curious, and my dad is a pretty handy dude who i am positive has done similar stuff, although wouldn't know exactly how to go about doing this. thanks in advance! -owen
