  1. Nice to see you on PG, it's nice to escape the trolls of K&T now and again. The builds looking very good, it might just be a photographic illusion but your bottom horn doesn't look perfectly round, might just be the photo though. Anyway for a first build it's looking very good indeed.
  2. If you do make circuits and drivers that replace strat neck pickups I will for certain be getting one, there would be no problem posting to the UK would there?
  3. Thanks for the replies, I've got this sorted now and even have it drawn up in DIY layout creator. I'm using the scheme I found with a few modifications as suggested.
  4. Does anyone have enough free time to put the schematic I posted above into the DIY layout creator program, I'm having some problems using it. If anyone does do this I owe them a huge favour.
  5. I found the one over at geofex and although I do have a bit of electronics know-how that schematic goes straight over my head, it's probably simpler than it looks. I'm still waiting for my account to be validated over at arons.
  6. Thanks for the replies, I've actually got the DIY layout creator software but haven't had time to have a play on it yet, those links will be useful though. Thanks again.
  7. Thanks, I'll give that a go.
  8. Could you tell me how to do this by modifying the circuit I posted above, thanks for the help.
  9. I've just found this circuit in a book. From my understanding I think this circuit does what I want but part of the circuit filters the signal to a more triangular waveform. I think this is done by R4, C4 and R6 but I might be wrong, can someone confirm this or tell me what I need to remove to stop it being filtered and to keep it square-wave.
  10. Thanks pete, I knew there were already trem pedals that did what I am after but I thought I might be able to make something myself for much cheaper than it would cost to buy one. Buying one might just be my best option anyway. Thanks
  11. Right, here's one for all you electronic guru's. I had an idea for a pedal that basically is like a killswitch but automated. Therefore it would have one switch to kill the signal, however I want another switch that when pressed will kill the signal and then let it back through really quickly, many times, kind of like a tremolo but actually killing the signal every time. This would allow the user to do those staccato sounds with general ease. I also wanted a pot that could control how fast or slowly the signal is killed, example being in a low position the signal is killed once a second and in the highest position about thirty times a second. I thought I could do this with a 555 astable circuit running into a transistor which then kills the signal when no power is going through it and lets the signal through when power is going through it. I can't work out a way to get this to work though so I though I'd give you lot a try.
  12. Doesn't matter, I have changed my mind on what I want now anyway. How do I get Top coil/both in series/bottom coil from a humbucker with an on/off/on three way dpdt/spdt any ideas?
  13. I've got the kill switch sorted now so no need to worry about that. Middle and Bridge in series sounds good, any chance of a diagram?
  14. I posted this on another forum I go to but recieved no reply so I guess this would be the best place to get some answers. Anyone got any ideas how to wire a kill switch on/off/on with a 3 pole 6 lug DPDT switch? A diagram would be brilliant but an explanation would also be greatly appreciated. On a side note: Does anyone know how to wire a strat so that with the flick of a switch (dptp preferably) I can get a combination of all three pickups on in series. I'm thinking this will produce a very hot sound (correct me if I'm wrong people).
  15. I'm re-wiring an old guitar and I just can't get my head around this wiring. Its going to be a HSH config but as its routed for humbuckers I put two single coils in the middle position (if that makes sense). Anyway I've got a push/pull dpdt switch and I want to use it to select the which middle single coil is used. Example: Push/pull down = bottom single coil active, push/pull up = top single coil active. Anyone got any ideas how to do this as I can't get my head around this dpdt switch. Thanks.
  16. The intonation hasn't been done yet since I really haven't had time to do anything with it since finishing it due to having to write the whole project up. As for the scale length, after measuring it does seem to be not quite right as some of you are saying so I'll have a closer look at it tomorrow and done some modification during the week. Thanks for the head's up guys and I was hoping people would point things like this out since it's my first build and im not 100% on things. It's all part of the learning curve.
  17. Yeah its a 27" neck, it's probably the angle of the photos. I'll try get some better pictures when I get the camera again.
  18. It was what a mate of mine made for a build of his but never used, thats why it's getting replaced eventually.
  19. No I diddn't make the neck but with time it will be getting its very own custom neck.
  20. The sides are laminated from 7 strips of ash that was glued and put into a mould for about 3 days before being trimmed and cut to size.
  21. Hey, This is my first build and is something I did for my A level design project, its a bit different from usual so it will be nice to see what everyone thinks. Mahogany Body with Ash edges 27" Scale 22 Frets Two really cheap humbuckers but they will be replaced with some swineshed's when I can afford them. Maple neck with maple fretboard Tuned standard The guitar is finished in polyurethene. Before people ask, it is slightly neck heavy due to the body being very very light weight. I can post some photos of the build in progress if anyone wants them. Anyway feedback will be greatly appreciated. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1006.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1011.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1010.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1009.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1008.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1007.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/to...00/IMG_1005.jpg
  22. Hi, Im in the final stages of finishing a build and need some help with grain filler. My body wood is mahogany and I will be finising with danish oil to provide a nice clear finish. My question is that do I need to apply grain filler before I finish the wood or can I just apply enough coats of danish oil to provide a smooth finish? thanks
  23. Yeah I've got a pillar drill, thankfully. I think i'll take the time to make a template and test it out on a few scrap pieces of wood to check everything lines up correctly.
  24. Thanks guy's, I better but some ferrules then. Anyone got an easy way for drilling the holes accurately and evenly spaced?
