  1. well, so it dosen;t matter which side the switch is facing, right? becuase both sides are the same I'm assuming?
  2. okay sure will, could it possibly be a faulty input jack or pots?
  3. I'm installing 2 new PUs on my rg550, Air Norton/ Steve's Special I'm wiring it with a 12 point 3 way toggle switch. I found a wiring diagram here http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=1996&w=JPM100]JPM wiring After wiring I only get sound comming out from the neck and middle postion but nothing from the bridge, not even noise. I also find find my volume and tone pots a bit noisy, should I get new ones or not? I wired it and double checked if I made any mistakes, to see if any wires has been short circeted. Am I doing something wrong with the 3 way toggle? Does it matter which way I wire the toggle, I'm not sure if both sides are the same or not. I'm using a Dimarzio 12 point 3 way toggle. Please can someone help me out. Thanks Alan
  4. okay/// after wiring everthing up. i think its not working, i do get very bad signals comming out of the amp, "wooming" kinda noise. got any ideas wat went wrong?

  6. hi i'm on the last step, on the Ibanez rg550 there are 2 wires left one from the bridge which is to the volume pot ground, there is also one left under the single coil pickup thats been stabled by a screw, where am I suppose to wire that one? Thanks Alan
  7. I'm installing new pickups on my rg550, Air Norton/ Steve's Special and an 3 way toggle switch simular to the JPMs I've got the wiring diagram but I need someone to walk me through the process, Also does it matter which side the toggle faces? or would both side be the same if I wire it correctly. Also on the schemtic it shows the volume pots are 500k, are the orignal ones on my rg550 500k? would it be okay if I'm not using 500k. thanks Alan
  8. hi I need to insulate my control cavity right now, and wire up my pickups, its kind of a hurry becuase I need to use this guitar tommorrow and its late at night right now, and I was wondering if there are any alterntives of using copper foil, maybe some material I can find at home. Also can someone explain a little about the use of insulating the control cavity. I'm a newbie at electronics, I would gladly learn if someone would explain a bit to me. Thanks Alan
  9. I'm bulding a new Pickguard, and I think i need to cover the back bit foil paper, what kind are those? And is it a must ? thanks Alan
  10. well, I don't really like the middle pickup in the way when I'm picking sometimes, its kind of annoying. aAso I realy don't like the purplish mirror pickguard, instead I want one thats the same colour as the body which is also purple but not so shiny. My rg is the 550ex, neon purple finish, it changes colour under different lighting, its kinda cool. I also ordered new pickups in violet/pink and blue/violet combo, which matchs the body. I'm not really sure which colour I should use for the pickguard? Any suggestions here? I'll take some photos of the guitar, and show you guys.
  11. certainly. I have made a few. There are some areas where it'll crack easily, like the little area between the neck pickup hole and neck cavity. No big deal if you're willing to take the time to carefully fix/glue any problems like this down the road. I didn't bevel the edges, so a tutorial by me would be half-assed, plus I don't have my own camera. But maybe sometime down the road in the future. Maybe there could be a pinned thread where all can add a bit of how they made their pickguard. But, I think anyone who makes a tutorial on this site deserves to be called a "featured member" as much as someone who has a 'Guitar of the month'. Heck, maybe they built that guitar with the help from someone elses tutorial. i think using wood is easier cuz its eaiser to cut the bits then maybe sending it down to make it perfect. What kind of wood meterials are you using?
  12. but how would I cut it so fine on the curves????? would i have to sand buff it? just wiz a razor blade will do this? or is a bevell cutter a must?
  13. I was wondering if I could just mod an existing pickguard? like fill the middle PU routing with a layer plastic or something then repaint the whole thing? anyone think this is possiable?
  14. I read that a while ago, it dosen't actually teach u how to make one. just how to decrate it
  15. I've been watning to make a new pickguard for my rg550 for a while now, but never had the time, anyone know where I can find tutorials on making a Rg pickguard, I want the PG to be H/H PU placement, and a 3 way toggle switch simular to the ones found on the JPMs. THANKS:)
