  1. Hello all - Outstanding forum 1st off let me state that I have successfully wired a typical LP setup with the volume pots functioning independently, so I don't have a problem with the schematics or following instruction. I'm not up on electronics so I'm looking for some extra advice. 1) Is there a more practical way of wiring the grounds? It seems to me that it would be more beneficial/practical to run everything to one lug as opposed to the backs of various pots. 2) Could that one lug be soldered directly to the adhesive backed copper shield? 3) What's with the little tab on the knob side of the pots? Can I cut it off or bend it? Reason I'm asking is that the tabs would come in contact with the copper shielding in the control cavity. Maybe this isn't a big deal but it's been bugging me. I'm corncerned I will be creating a ground loop issue. The thickness of the wood at the control cavity is a hair under 1/4" and I don't feel comfortable going any thinner to accommodate the tab. Thank you for your time Spiteboy
  2. AARGH!!! of course you are correct. Why this didn't occur to me is beyond me. Thanks for your reply tho'. I'm off to rethink this whole finish thing
  3. Does anyone have any suggestions at all regarding a matte finnish? Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but hey, I built the guitar so I want it to look my way. I'm looking to get that street rod primer black look, but I want to ensure that the final product is durable to some degree against scratches. Any help is greatly appreciated Spiteboy
  4. Is anyone aware of specs or general guidlines in regards to placing string trees? I could always place them where they make sense, but I would much more prefer the accepted "correct" positioning before letting the ol' imagination place 'em for me Many Thanks, Spiteboy
  5. I'm getting conflicting stories from all over the place. When grounding the bridge, do I need to run a ground from the TOM and run a wire from the tailpiece? OR... Do I just need to run a wire from one? the left side of my brain keeps telling the right side that I would be creating a ground loop if I did both. Please help! Thanx
