  1. Hoi! After reading books about building a guitar, it is IMHO very good to read books how to repair them, 'cause the repair-books point out some weak spots and how to fix them. Its also nice to have a repairbook handy when you build your guitars, it's a good feeling to know you can look things up if anything goes wrong... The Acoustic Guitar: Adjustment, Care, Maintenance, and Repair (Acoustic Guitar) by Don Teeter Even if it's about acoustic guitars, loads of info is suitable for solidbody too (neck, finish, crackrepairs...) Guitar Player Repair Guide: How to Set Up, Maintain, and Repair Electrics and Acoustics by Dan Erlewine I like both books. Avor
  2. Have a look at this Page! http://www.buildyourguitar.com/ You can order either the CD or book. Martin Koch is very kind, he had answered some questions i had very quick and friendly, so if you have questions, you can ask him too. Have fun, greetings, Avor
  3. Hoi! Does anybody know where to get the "binding cutter knife", or how to make one yourself? I saw a picture of the cutter on the stewmac site but its not to buy there. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bindings,_trim.html Did anybody use such a knife? Any experience? greetings, Avor

  5. Hello again! just found out that Zaponlack = cellulose lacquer (http://dict.leo.org = german <-> english translator) I din't find the funktion of lacquer retarder, but the german sentence says that it "cleans" a finish that has blotches. for me it sounds like a carpolish... if thats the same function the retarder has..but i can't promise its the same. Maybe you try to tipe the french description and Phil can translate.. greetings, Avor
  6. 'lo there! I'm not very familiar with laquer-stuff so i can be wrong... 1) Nitro-Schnellschliffgrund, farblos Nitro-FastSandingGround, no colour Seems to be a kind of sanding sealer, 2) Nitro-Lack, farblos, seidenmatt und matt thats a nitro-laquer, no colouer, matt de lux and silk finish think that says everything 3) Zaponlack, wasserhell, bewahrt glänzende Metall-Oberflächen vor Korrosion. Zaponlaquer, bright as water (?), conserves shining metal-surfaces from corrosion 4) Grau-Entferner entfernt Wasser- und Alkohol-Flecken sowie Grauschleier aus nitrolackierten Flächen. "Grey-Remover" removes Water- and alcohol-blotches as well as "grey-mist" from nitrolaquered surfaces. Happy finishing.. Avor
