  1. Thanks for all the help guys. Looks like you pretty much agree with the majority of the people involved over at guitar.com. I'm not really sure why that discussion turned so ugly, it's unfortunate.
  2. Guys, there is a debate going on at another forum I'm a member of, and I was wondering if you guys might be able to help clear it up. There are a couple guys arguing that all you hear coming from your amp is the strings and pickups interacting, and that the type of wood has basically no effect on what you hear. Several others (including myself) are saying that different woods do indeed have different effects on your tone, whether it be an inherent brightness, etc. Any insight? The link to the other thread, for anyone interested. http://guitar.com/Discuss/readmsg.asp?show...297&boardID=100
  3. Yeah, they had topics about painting (color schemes like bursts, gold top, etc.) but nothing specifically about clear coating. Do I need to look for something more general?
  4. Haven't found anything specifically about this yet, but I'll keep digging. Thanks for replying.
  5. Hello all, I have a few questions concerning possibly clear coating over my Ibanez RG. I have never done anything along these lines before, and was wondering if this would a good idea to do myself, or if I should have a pro do it. I recently applied these graphics to a natural finish, and have had many recommendations to clear coat it to protect and preserve the look. Just researching it right now.
  6. Hello all, I'm planning to do some mods to the headstock of my Ibanez RG321. It's the natural unfinished mahogany bodied version, and I'm going to be placing a mahogany veneer on the headstock to replace the stock black paint, and also installing Sperzel locking tuners. My questions are mainly 1) will the Sperzels fit in the stock tuners' holes? and 2) if not, what process do I need to undergo to modify the holes to the 10mm diameter they require without ruining the neck/headstock? The veneering process has already been explained to me by Eddie at EKG customs, and I assumed that to drill the pegholes in the veneer I could simply apply it to the headstock and use the current holes (once modified if necessary) as a guide. Any tips/tricks/DONTs are very welcome and appreciated.
