  1. Hey Bri- I'm causing a little confusion here, so I'll try to clear it up. Originally, this thread was in Auction/Supplies. I moved it here to the Classifieds to quell the masses for the time being. I've spoken with GuitarSlinger1 via PM and he stated he had talked with you about posts the Auction/Supplies section. It's all you from here.
  2. What? You couldn't quilt the screw heads on the pickup covers? Jeez..... LMAO! As usual, fantastic work David. Stellar.
  3. Even if you did a one-off just for yourself, I'd expect a C&D letter from the guys who make the 'Double Whammy'. My suggestion to you would be: Reading. Lots and lots of reading. I'll get ya started.... -Tremolo systems are made from a variety of metals. Everything from Titanium to Brass to Zinc to pot metal. -Some use cast parts; others will use extruded or machined parts. Some (like Joe Driskill's) don't even have parts! His are one-piece! Crazy stuff. Ok, now go read more. Lots more. www.google.com (And do me one favor: Work on the spelling/grammar a little. Thanks.)
  4. Russ- Maybe I'm getting old (they say that memory is the 2nd thing to go), but I don't remember any washers on the FR systems.
  5. Heh heh....you'll have to work that out with AllParts, Alex. AllParts will have 99.9% of the Tremol-No's, and it's up to them how the sales work. I'll only get a couple per shipment (for QC, endorsees, spare parts, etc.). I've gotten a bunch of emails about the Demonstration video. I'm glad you guys are enjoying it, because the Installation one is going to be incredibly boring.
  6. Goth- you're close. Hipshot *will* do an 8-string trem. You just need to cough up the cash first. It's not part of their regular lineup. As far as price, I honestly don't know. LGM has more info on it than I.
  7. Well, you can't buy a Tremol-No quite yet, but you will be able to in a few weeks. A little patience and you'll be a happy camper. I forgot to answer this one. Yes, and no. Yes- it is possible. With some serious engineering and machine work, you *could* have an 8-string, split trem built. It'd probably cost you more than a new Kia, but it could be done. The other big stumbling block for that projects would be that no one makes an 8-string trem. Yet.
  8. The Tremol-No will work on about 98% of the trems out there today. There are only a VERY FEW exceptions, aside from the obvious ones (Bigsby, Steinberger, Wonderbar, etc). If you're looking for a FR TremStopper for your guitar, check the hardware department at HomeDepot. For $0.99 you can pick up a 2-pack of small zinc L-brackets. Another $0.49 for a 4-pack of wood screws. Yours won't be chrome, but....it's basically the same thing.
  9. BP- Rob did it because he's one of my best friends, and fantastically talented. I guess letting him play my guitars was payment enough. (Yeah...right. LOL) Gem- the Tremol-No will have an MSRP somewhere between $55 and $65. It all depends on how well the US dollar is doing the day they get shipped over. The price includes the Deep-C and all the extra stuff (alternate clamping screws, set screws, spacer pack, etc). In the UK, you'll be able to get it directly from AllParts-UK, but that might take a couple of weeks because it's a brand new product. AllParts.com *will* ship internationally, if you're in a hurry. The Tremol-No will be available worldwide from day one, either through their website or the distributor in your neck of the world. If you have problems finding/ordering one, let me know and I'll get you hooked up. The very best/quickest way to find out when Tremol-No's are shipping is to get on the Email Notification List (link on the front page of Tremol-No.com). Sign up there, and you'll get an email from me 24 seconds after I hear from AllParts that they're ready to ship. We're getting closer folks. I might get some sleep next month. LOL
  10. Maiden- if you want a 'full-time hardtail' from your guitar with a trem, you can replace the thumbscrews with set screws. Done. Then, in X years, when trems come back in fashion, hopefully you'll have remembered where you put your thumbscrews. LOL Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm glad you're diggin' on it. More info as it becomes available.
  11. Thanks Crafty! I'm glad you enjoyed it. We had a lot of fun working on it, and certainly learned a thing or two (or eleven). The WMV files are now online! 8.3MB and 25MB PC users rejoice! :-) The 3.5MB version looked like....well....crap. I simply couldn't upload it with good conscience. You guys would have hated me. Sorry that the small one is 8MB, but at least it's viewable. I also have a 371MB .IMG file, if anyone is interested in burning their own DVD. Right now, it's just the Demo video; the Install one will be added later. Email me if you're interested in the file. Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions. Enjoy the videos folks!
  12. Hey folks! It took a little while, but they're finally up on the site! Windows Media Player Users: Your choice of 8.3MB low quality, or 25MB decent quality files. Quicktime Users: YOU WILL NEED QUICKTIME 7 TO VIEW THE MOV FILES! Go to Quicktime.com and update if you haven't already. THE MOV FILES WILL NOT PLAY WITHOUT QUICKTIME 7! http://www.tremol-no.com/videos.asp The Installation video will be ready soon. Let me know if you folks have any questions. Enjoy! EDIT- Added WMV info.
  13. Welcome. Don't forget to read the rules about pic posting as well.
  14. Looks very, VERY classy! Excellent work for a first build! Keep it up!
  15. Ok, let's do Trem Basics 101. -Tremolo is an incorrect musical term. What the device does is actually vibrato. You can thank Leo Fender for the goof. Now we're stuck with it. :-) -There are 2 different tremolo system setups: 1. Dive Only. 2. Full Floating -With Dive Only, you will only be able to lower the pitch of the notes (dive bomb). -With Full Floating, you will be able to lower *and* raise the pitch of the notes. -A Dive Only tremolo system is where the underside of the main trem plate rests on the top of the body. The trem can only be moved in one direction. -A Full Floating tremolo system has part of the guitar body cut out underneath the bottom of the main trem plate. This allows it to be "pulled back", or pitch to be raised. -There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems. Most players tend to stick with one or the other, depending on their playing style. Different guitar makers utilize different systems. As Dr. Evil...oops...Ansil asked, we'll need to know what kind of guitar and what kind of tremolo system. A pic or two wouldn't hurt; either of your particular guitar, or of one you find online. Please don't post pics of Kerry's guitar (he scares me, a lot). We can continue after we get more info. You have your assignment. Class dismissed. Slain- correct, but there are a few other things you need to consider as well: is the trem able to travel as far as necessary (without saddles slipping/hindering the strings), pickup height adjustability, etc. LoveKraft- my favorite trem system in the whole world actually *does* have a battery hookup.
  16. NOTE: Shane is a very good friend of mine. Purchase with the utmost confidence. (He's also played Jemfest a bunch of times and brought the roof down) Email me if you have any questions.
  17. I'd be happy to help you out Jimmie. 1. Don't PM moderators with your questions. There are more members than there are Mods and Admin, so post questions on the forum. You'll get more answers, I promise. If you have an issue with the forum in general, we'll help you out, otherwise see #2. 2. Use the SEARCH function. There's a link to the Search section at the top of every page on this forum. It works fantastically on this forum, and is very customizable so you can quickly and easily find the answers to the questions your're looking for. Now go and enjoy the reading. See ya in a bit.
  18. It's not really a PITA to install....if your last name is Nordegg, Suhr, or Brawer. LMAO. But seriously, don't take my word for it- have a look for yourself. Compare their installation to the Tremol-No installation: Tremol-No Instructions StewMac product Instructions You make the call. The Tremol-No will be about $60-65 USD, and will come with the Deep-C. And, you don't have to buy any special tools to install it, take it to a tech, buy extra parts because you run 10's, etc.
  19. The Tremol-No is ***NOT*** associated with that product in any way. The device in that StewMac link REQUIRES drilling and possible routing, along with specialized tools (and sometimes a professional tech) to install. There's a tutorial here about filling in a tremolo cavity (see the main site Tutorials section). Many have used the "wood block" method with mixed success. The Tremol-No will be available in a few weeks and will solve your problem in about 15 minutes.
  20. www.Tremol-No.com (and 2 demerits for idch for not posting it first. LOL)
  21. If you're still experimenting, check out this one from Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...%5Fid=32%2D1257 I don't feel bad ripping open and chopping up a $50 wireless mic system. :-)
  22. Whatever you do, don't post pics of this (f-ing GORGEOUS) Tele over on that "other" site. The site owner refers to spalted maple as "driftwood". (No kidding; I got banned over it.) Stunning work, Drak. Keep it up.
  23. Some didn't have the facilities to leave...........food stamps aren't proper down payment for a motor vehicle, I guess. ← Yeah this is an important cynicism to confront.. "well if they wanted to ride out the storm, then they got what's coming to them" There are those are bull headed and want to ride out the storm, and they deserve such judgement but in this case you're talking about a high density urban area with a lot of poor people without cars, access to money, etc.. Public transportation is their only means of getting around and the city busses weren't exactly offering to take folks out of the city. The vast majority of these people were trapped. plain and simple and hopefully they are finally getting the help they need. ← They absolutely had a choice. 95% of the 'stranded' people I've seen have two working legs. START WALKING. West, North...doesn't matter. Food, water and power are about a 5 hr. walk out of NOLA directly west. And their chances of getting a ride are increased exponentially. And with all the new Nike's around downtown, no one has any excuse about not having proper footwear.
