  1. So after some family stuff I finally got it all buffed and rolling so here is a pic of it nice and shiny.
  2. I found a wiring diagram for wiring active and passive emg pickups in the same guitar and using the PA-2 on the passive one. More pics coming this afternoon.
  3. Well the "No Template SG" came to a halt. I almost ruined the top trying to cut the humbucker holes so I gave way and used a humbucker template and a router. Anyways, I have been pretty busy and should get to polishing this week. Here is a pic of the body sanded down with 220 and here it is all routed http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/TheHurt/SG/sgroute.jpg So far I the body is done, the neck is glued, and I used the extra wood to make pickup rings and a back cover. I have a Gibson Dirty Fingers for the Bridge and a 496 for the neck I probably am going to add an EMG PA-2 to the neck or maybe both who knows, I had it laying around so this may be the guitar to get it. so I will post more pics hopefully in the next couple days of a finished product.
  4. Hey, I normally don't post, but after a couple years hiatus (kids) I started from scratch. Just to let those people out there that are so willing to share thier knowledge know, that it is very much appreciated. On to the build. I found some old maple I forgot I had and decided it would make an interesting SG. So I found some 1/2" quilted maple and 3/4" regular maple and a 3 piece maple LP style set neck. I realize this is a little thin but DBZ has that crazy new thin guitar and I thought what the heck. So, I traced the body of an SG3 I have onto the two the different maple pieces and cut them out with a jigsaw and then glued them up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/TheHurt/SG/sgtrace.jpg Then with a microplaner attached to a hand drill I smoothed the edges so everything matched up nicely. Next I will bevel the edges and the horn areas and the route. I also found some awesome quilt for a headstock veneer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v376/TheHurt/SG/headstock.jpg I know I could save a lot of time with better tools and templates, but there is something to say about truly handmade guitars, it's like my therapy. Anyhowever, any and all comments are wlecome and any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for the site and if anyone cares I will continue posting pics until it's complete.
  5. I have a 95 Gibson SG Standard w/ OHSC for $900 or trade. I have 3 SG's and would like to play something different. I am interested in acoustic, electric, hollow body, jazz box, resonator, amps almost anything. I live in Texas so consider shipping. I am willing to use an escrow service if needed. I have pics posted on flickr I will try to get a link. The SG is a player but very, very clean small ding near the switch minor buckle rash not through the finish. The neck is very solid and has no repairs. I changed the bridge and will include the original. Minor chipping near fretboard on the body. All original electronics. 214.460.4342 my name is Marco can also be found marcoeldano@aol thank you and please e-mail me with any questions. Link for the pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8273
  6. I have searched for two days and have not found anything close to what I need. I have one Pearly Gates Humbucker I would like use as 1. Regular Humbucker 2. Split (either coil) and 3. Directly wired to the Jack. If anyone outhere can help I would very much appreciate it. An easy to follow diagram would rock, and if I need to add other options (push/pull pot, 5 way switch, mini toggle) to my plan so be it. Thank you in advance.
  7. I have a LO TRS Trem II in Black and would like to trade for a chrome one. If anyone could help please e-mail me. marcoeldano@aol.com If anyone has one for sale that may work also.

  11. Thanks for the info I will have some pics up when I'm done.
  12. I won this body on ebay recently, I have had trouble finding out who the manufacturer is. I am trying to purchase the equipment for it, especially a bridge and a neck(I've never built one) I have checked all the poplar sites Carvin, Warmoth it's similar to the Geko but mine is only 4 string. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bass
  13. Not sure this helps but Madien's method is what I used, except shrink wrap was my choice over paper. StripesAlso becareful of the type of tape you use. I used painters tape the blue stuff and had a few seeps.
  14. hyunsu I have an Ibanez body I could sell you very very cheap if you like so you won't need to waste your money. I will try to send some pics, not sure if this link works. Ibanez I know shipping will be expensive but it will be worth it to see you work your magic. I hope I can help and thanks for the inspiration to build.
  15. Not sue if these will help but maybe: Eviscer-caster Mutacaster Slashocaster Thrashocaster I think it is an awesome idea and I am sure it will look great, good luck.
  16. I ran a search before this post and could not find anything. I was looking at this guitar olp and was curious about the foto finish he has in parenthesis. OLP website had the same thing listed with a film finish which I did find in the search. If this is the same thing would somebody let me know. Also is this thing worth it?
  17. 'Jane Said' Is just G and A chords by Jane's Addiction or Glycern by Bush sounds awesome just 4 chords. More Classic Rock would be American Woman by the Guess Who very easy or Feel Like Making Love you could learn those fairly quickly. I hope that helps your probably more advaced then those songs but people still like them. Good luck and I would like to know what song you end up picking.
  18. Well coming from a newbie I would say you really need to find a significant other, I would say you need a woman, but as much as you sound like a b%^@*, that would only take a mirror. If you don't want to help newbies out because you answered that question 1,000 times too bad. I'm sure Brian started this whole thing for that same reason, he was answering the same questions or even asking them. I'm sure he didn't go cry about it, he decided to help others. If you aren't sure what that means, it means quit acting like officiously pedantic jerk and answer the damn question or keep your mouth shut (or fingers still in this matter). Get back to making guitars, you obviously have some skill for that at least.
  19. Not quite sure what that was suppose to be, but Whoof don't sweat it we are here for you. I even have a snickers with your name on it.
  20. Hey whoof don't let that get you down, a lot of the more experienced guys here seem to be taking that attitude. Not all of us here share that same ideology. I think the veterans get tired of answering that same questions and forget what it is like to use the SEARCH function that never seems to work too well. It may just be me, but this forum was set up to help eachother, just because you had to go through a bunch of trail and error to get where you are you should have paved the path along the way not leave the path the way you found it. I know we newbies should learn from experience and mistakes, but if I know something whether you ask me once or 1,000,000 times I would still give you the answer to help you not to make my mistakes. Nothing personal to you Drak, it has become clear that many of the more experienced builders here forget what it was like to get started. Sorry Mods if I violated a rule just trying to help another discouraged newbie.
