  1. yeh i don't like saying its an epiphone lp100, people already judge it. i do too! but its come out nice...i know its not perfect, but i love saying its my own custom guitar what's GOTM?
  2. what do you think of my guitar anyway Maiden69? like? not your type? etc
  3. yeh i had any choice of what the pickup colours were in order, but i like mine
  4. ha i've been confused from day one about zebras and reversed zebras, now i kinda understand this page a bit more that i found ages ago http://www.gtrheaven.com/pickups/sd_zebra.htm but anyway, how will it affect my guitar? i dont mind it atm, it makes my guitar even more unique (and it'll be talked about when im famous in a gearhead article ) so what will be different with the sound? ( i can't believe a tech got it wrong too )
  5. well it was the shop who did it i know what you mean tho, im confused now. because both pickups are classed as zebras...i didnt get one zebra colour and the other reversed. i think colour wise its right but i am confused now
  6. people said i would notice a difference with the new pickups...i don't. hopefully i will do when im playing at volumes or whatever. also single coil option doesnt give that great-a change in sound, its very very subtle. reduces volume though, ha the setups nice, bottom e buzzes a bit though and is it walnut? the flash makes it look darker than it really is. i posted a pic ages ago up on here and someone said it was mahogany. now i have no idea what wood it is
  7. was a black epiphone lp100. completely took it apart and sanded it. waxed, oiled finish. complete new electronics and strings. pickups are neck : seymour duncan '59, bridge : seymour duncan custom custom, which is coil tapped feedback, postive and negative, would be appreciated
  8. hey thanks both of you for helping.....less worrys now i'll tell u how i get on in a month when its back from the shop with everything sorted this site is great!
  9. also my strings have been off my neck for some time now. i havent loosened the tross rod, basically coz i couldnt get to it. hmm, does an allen key work? ok too late anyway......is the lack of tension causing it to bend or something? is this permanenent damage? im scaaaaaaaared!
  10. please check out the picture. my friend says im in trouble coz the neck isnt straight with the guitar. but i think raising the bridge will make the strings parallel to the fretboard at a certain height so, am i trouble? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/ran...az/000_1537.jpg
  11. that looks great for a relic, well done looks like more fun than being dead accurate...i just spend so much aching, painful time stripping the paint off my body and sanding etc. i did think about doing a vintage looking guitar, but decided against it? why? because it's an epiphone, not a 50's gibson! but thats the look u like, and u did a good job.....ayyyy
  12. does polymerized tung oil give a better look than wax n polishing?
  13. here's a close up on the bodys grain, does this help? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/ran...az/000_1518.jpg also if im going for the non-glossy look, can i just rub in wax into the wood all over and leave it?? + anyone come across scuff problem before? cheers
  14. hi i've sanded down my guitar. i like the look of it now, and i think i want a nitro finish to make it more glossy and bring out the grain if i want it slightly darker do you not recommend rubbing in wax then, as it'll cause problems later. should i just rub in some alcohol dye? also please can you identify the woods i have below from the picture i uploaded. the spec online for my guitar says its mahogany neck and alder body, but its not. it looks like african mahogany body and maple/ash neck. any guesses? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/ran...az/000_1517.jpg also how do you remove these scuff marks on the guitar? they're like raw bits of wood that are having trouble being sanded down nicely. when moistened, the colour darkens to normal thanks
  15. also on bare wood on the neck, how do you coat it? you cant leave it bare. maiden61 (is that the name?) mentioned lemon oil....whats this? thanks again
  16. What effect does nitro spray laquer onto bare alder wood give? is it better than using varnish, as it'll at least be durable also is there a difference between clearcoating and laquering? thanks (after so much decision swapping i think im going for the bare look for my electric guitar)
  17. The wood dyes i checked out are i think alcohol ones. They said something about putting onto vare wood only, and i've heard this around with dyes, yet walkthroughs say you can add layers .... is this possible? also if i want to gradually increase a colour, can i just mix dyes together to get the desired colour and then rub in this colour onto the part of my guitar i want e.g. highlightened? thanks!
  18. i really dont understand why there would be more sustain in a proper glued in neck. vibrations running up the neck would be similar whether its glued in or bolted on....you must b talking about very, very slight modifications in sustain surely when comparing a lp100 to a standard?
  19. its just the tutorials say dont cross sand or it'll show if u add wood dye but you can either go up and down or side to side in different places along your guitar.....its all debatable!
  20. I have a bolt on neck...if i glue it onto my guitar and put bolts on it, surely its just a glued in neck now like an epiphone standard?
  21. So which way do you sand as you go around the sides of your guitar? You cant go with the grain...
