  1. Is there a way of making an amp save. I've heard about people dying from a shock they got from the amp so isnt there some kind of thing you can put between your guitar and the amp that makes sure nothing can happen? If course you can go wireless but at the moment that costs to much money.
  2. I grounded the bridge and tested for circuit with a multimeter. Was hard to do though right now its just a paperclip into the hole for the bridge (les paul like guitar) and its sticking to the bridge because I clamped it behind the tone put so there is tension on it , still the multimeter says its ok so I guess its ok . To be sure I'll retest it... Ok resistance is low so that should be allright. I followed the wiring diagram from stewmac.com the one in wich the middle position doesnt have individual volume control for the buckers.
  3. What I was thinking about myself is just skim the streets and some of them places where old wood is. I mean like, it doesnt matter what it has previously been used for, as long as its good quality and (relative) easy to work with (so no weird shapes in the wood etc.). I was thinking about some of them old furniture or what I said those wood dumps there was one near me but they took it away.
  4. Hi thx for all the help on my previous topic, I fixed the main problem. The bridge humbuckers contactpoint for the ground (from the coil to the casing). But that is fixed now. And they sound pretty sweet for a noname thing but now I've got another problem. Its buzzing, like a single coil only just a tad bit worse probably. There are a few screws in the bucker when I go near them you hear like its picking up my statics electricity I'm carying or something like that. When I adjust the screws a bit its a bit less. Really weird. But even more weird, when I roll down the tone pot the buzzing is gone, and the tone doesnt change much. So its a solution but not quite what I want. Anyone have any solution. BTW I'll look on the forum know see if my little knowledge can help other people. The forum looks quite cool, lets see if I make it to the 1000 .
  5. I guess it doesnt make good contact then if polarity doesnt matter and the ground only matters for phasing. Thx, I've got a multimeter here so I'll try it out tomorrow its 0:19 now so I really need some sleep , but I'll try it out.. thx all
  6. Hi, Today I finally found what was wrong, how the humbucker was wired. Like when you look at the back of your humbucker, see 2 coils connected, 1 coil grounded and 1 coil hot. The problem was that the 1 coil grounded was well uhm gone. There wasnt a wire there. So I did that myself. now the neck pick up works but the other doesnt. I know there is something with polarity but how should I wire the bridge humbucker? Oh and what is hot rod wiring?? Thx, Yeah I'm a noob.. Thx again . EDIT I just found that it doesnt matter and that its only about phase. I'm curious what the problem is then. For some reason there isnt much sound coming from it but I do hear the click when I touch it with metal, and the other pick up does work.. Hmm maybe bad contact?? Suggestions??? Another EDIT I forgot to ask. Is there a way to measure how much DC resistance the pick up has??
  7. Hi I have a somewhat similar problem I bought a 2nd hand les paul like guitar (2 humbuckers, 2 tone, 2 volume and a three way switch). But there is only little sound coming from it like I have to turn the 20 watt amp all the way open to have just a little bit of noise coming from it. There is a little buzz but nothing bad. We (a guy who is good with the soldering iron and electrical stuff, and I) followed the diagrams from stewmac. But it doesnt work. So I tried putting the humbucker straight on the input/output jack. Like I put the + of the humbucker on the + of the inputjackplugthingie and the ground of the humbukcer on the ground of the.. But there is still no noise. So I tried another humbucker from another guitar and that one has the same problem so it would be weird if suddently 4 pick ups fail on the same thing. Are there any beginner tutorials on how an electric guitar works and how to shield, ground and wire it? I would really like to learn more (thats why I just joined this forum and bought that guitar) but I don't really know what to search for. Oh if somebody just knows the solution ....
