  1. You can't swap an EL84 with an EL34. Their sockets don't match. Though, the EL84 is just the little brother to the EL34.
  2. Why do you have 8GB of RAM and using a 32-but OS, unless your using the 64bit version. I would go for a 64bit version of Vista > XP anyday. Its more stable and has good driver support these days. Also, thanks to Greg, i use Tracktion and its fantastic.
  3. If you can find some hard foam you could also put that behind the pickup just to raise it up a few mm.
  4. I saw this a while ago and really wanted to try it:
  5. I'm looking any type or style of 7 string pickups. Specifically ones that have been gutted from guitars and replaced with better ones. PM me if you have some you want rid of. Cheers
  6. Man that Epi Dot Blonde, looks awesome. Shame i'm in the same boat as Prostheta.
  7. I was planning on putting it on ebay, but i'm in no desperate need of the money, just space. So i can wait until the middle of december if it hasn't sold by then.
  8. I've only used this amp for about 5 hours in total. Its just been sitting in my spare room for about a year now. I bought a JCM800 about a month after i bought this, so its never really had a look in. I'm looking for £400 ono, delivery/collection would be best, but i can arrange postage at buyers cost. Cheers
  9. ansil, you need to clear out your inbox =P
  10. Could someone please tell me what type of wire i can use for a speaker cable? I've been told that a normal guitar lead will work, but also told a power lead will be best. I'm a little confused here...
  11. Yeah, i bought the 1/2 watt Gilmour Kit from them and the 3 amp books they offer. The amp itself is very loud and clean for its power output. I managed to bake my power transformer and they were happy to replace it for free, which was pretty cool.
  12. Check out www.AX84.com Guytronix and Ted Weber also have kits you can buy and assemble them yourself. Word of caution. Its not as simple as you may think building a Valve Amplifier. Read carefully all the safety instructions and don't jump in two feet, it may save your life. The voltages running through a valve amp are very high and if you aren't careful you could end up a cabbage, or worse.
  13. Huh. I didn't know that was possible. Yeah, worryingly enough...i think i've reached my fill too...
  14. Even if its not, the owner of the original work should have the say whether they want someone to make a profit from it.
  15. Hmm, surely some sort of legal action can be taken. Selling the work of someone else?
  16. Has your friend changed it in anyway? Like did he make it true bypass and thats why its not working? If not, then seems strange cos i'm sure the GCB-95 has a buffer in it. Pictures really would help on this occasion.
  17. Just like everything else in life. People will love one company for doing something and put it high in their regards, yet another company will come along with the same idea and concpet, but its just not "vintage". Human/Guitarist nature. I would just be pleased if someone released a P-90 for a 7 string guitar. I know they aren't exactly popular compared to 6 string, which is fine. But the fact there are only a handful of decent pickups for 7 sring guitarist in this day and age, i find a little disgraceful. It seems to me DiMarzio have the best selection, but they are just trying to copy 6 string designs. How about pushing out the boat a little and designing a whole new pickup?
  18. I dunno, most guitarists i know are stubborn and think anything slightly new and innovative is witch-craft. Maybe its just been the case for so long so people think it must be true? I'm all for new technology and so on. I'm a big fan of old designs built with newer, more reliable pats. Not always mind you!
  19. wouldn't it be easier to JUST connect the tone pot up and test that way? Seems like a hassle if you get it in only to find its not very good?
  20. Anyone know if they come in 7 string flavour?
  21. i seem to remember it but cant find the discussion, maybe i am just being particularly dense today but a link to the thread would help Here you go my good man. Linky
  22. There is a topic in the Electronic section about these. The creator posted in there and posted a video.
  23. I like this. Simple, but looks great. What choice of pickups did you go for?
