  1. So, I was about to setup a friends new 7-stringed Warlock when the damn nut cracked! I'm thinking he should get one out of metal, since I've never had any problems with the floyd nuts. This is a tune-o-matic styled guitar and the strings to be used is 10-52 and 70 for the low B and it's tunes down one half step. Any ideas? ATM I'm super-gluing the nut together.
  2. Okay, is it okay to use something like Teak Oil? BTW. should the stain be water or oil based?
  3. Hey guys. I've finally gotten around to sand down the poor finish on my RG7620 (well, not yet, but I've got the tools now!). I'm thinking about staining the wood (sides+back=black, faux binding, green/blueish black on top), can I put on oil as finish or is there risk of the staining to rub off when the oil is rubbed off? Also, if using laquer (sp?), how do I get that satin feel that the RG1527 has on it's neck? Thinking about doing that to my RGs body instead of oil (seems safer). I fixed my necks high-gloss to satin by using a 240 paper, to do that on a new finish can I just stop at 240? Sorry for the wierd phrasing!
  4. Can't really rough up the surface for what I'm doing. I'm just gonna put some oil on it might stain it too.
  5. Thanx for the response! I talked with the color-department at my work today, they called the supplier of their chemical remover and they didn't know how it reacted to glue (???), so basically I was to ask the manufacturer of my guitar about that. heh. However, the finish is unchanged from factory. Some chipped paint and so though (and the headstock needs some wood filler). I've read something that you shouldn't use chemical strippers for removing factory finishes.
  6. So, what chemical strippers can I use on my RG7620? Also, can I strip the finish of the back of my neck without worring that the fretboard will come loose?
  7. Like I can't, but I do it anyway although I have a locking nut atm
  8. This is how I string my guitar already.
  9. I'm replacing my RG7620 neck with the neck from an RG7321. Now since the new neck don't have a nut lock would some Sperzel Tuners solve this problem with good result?
  10. yeah that's what I'm after I could look into those too. Although, with the glow powder you can order you've got more color options Not that anything can compete with green hehe. Btw, their top green has an after glow to about 12h after light.
  11. Hey, I'm still planning my 7 string. Getting wood for the body in some months. What I'm wondering is if 18" rods will be enough for a 21.011" long neck (from nut to fretboard end)...
  12. Got this responce from readysetglo.com:
