Hi all,
I own a 1981 Gibson Firebrand "The Paul" Deluxe, which I have had for nearly ten years, and I'm very happy with it.
However, I have recently noticed that when I turn either of the volume controls down I get a hum unless I touch the bridge/strings. If I have both pickups selected the hum only occurs when I turn BOTH pickups down. I have never done any modifications to the guitar.
I have tried two guitars through the same amp/cable and they don't exhibit the same problem.
Do you have any suggestions? You're my last hope - I've tried everywhere I can think of on the net, to no avail!
