  8. you and scottr must have jacked forearms with your builds. Holy crap. and as others have said- brave using hands tools- I would have angle grinded the crap out of that. looking good !
  9. wow. seriously impressed. I dont really know much about CNC- but I am impressed with this so far. Cant wait to see what it can do. Great job so far man. bravo.
  10. (just remembered I was supposed to let @Prostheta know when I got around to starting this) I have decided to put up slat walls to help with space/tool storage. I didnt want to mess with french cleats and honestly I hate peg board. No drywall- I dont want to mess with drywall near the two HVAC units. I will have dust in my house for the next decade. I also spent some time this week measuring and re-measuring /checking tools and vises to be fitted, making sure I have enough overhang to get to bolts etc on the top of what will be my only bench in this room. I am cutting down and making one of my existing benches into the perfect size (for me). I have this at the perfect height as well so back bending is at minimum. I also spent time clearing out the garage- I will be keeping the "dusty" woodworking tools out there still- but making room for 2nd car to fit into garage. The first pic is an old pic of my garage from like 2017 maybe 2018- the red arrow is the bench I am dismantling and revamping. Pic below that is where I have settled on length of the top and working height. I will refinish and attach the top after the walls go up. The PROSLAT slatwall I ordered should be here tomorrow.
  11. I hope you get that action sorted to your liking- this looks great! I love Vs.
  12. Congrats Matt- your builds always blow my mind. Such great attention to detail!
  13. Nicc0- congrats on the GOTM. what type of glue did you use on those braces? I see the squeeze out-it looks like yellow PVC- by chance did you maybe have too much squeeze out? if that is PVC- I would have expected the top wood to fail around that area vs the top wood peeling away from the brace like that- thus my question if perhaps the glue completely squeezed out. I cant tell from the pic but it doesnt appear any of the brace wood broke off and is attached the top (ie- clean break). regarding the top- make sure your humidity is up in your shop area before you do anything- I agree with @Bizman62, but if you do that and your shop is say- 30% or less humidity- you will find yourself right back with that cup or maybe worse with a split. (ask me how I know :-)) I have flatten headstock veneers that have cupped by placing them on melamine (any slick, flat surface will do) put a piece of wood on top of the veneer and a small weight (a soup can works) on top of that and let time and gravity do its thing. But that was in my garage in summer so- 80%+ humidity 24x7.
  14. the latest artic blast has been me in defcon 3 trying to keep on top of falling humidity. The last couple years I have been keeping daily watch over humidity levels in this area. I have it dialed in for most of the year. The room next to this space has 2 HVAC units. When the heaters come on at night during the winter- the humidity will temporarily drop to 40-42% but this cold dry snap we are having are driving levels way down and that ain't cool. When the walls are built up- the HVAC units in the next room will have minimal effect in here. I have 5 of these meters around the HVAC room and the workshop. This shows 24 hr period measures- temp is staying pretty constant with spikes when the heaters kick on. The humidity though shows 24 hr high of 50% and low in thirties.
  15. I have been hiding in the shadows these last few years. Many life events to tend to that took priority over building unfortunately. And as luck would have it in August 2019, literally a month prior to said life events happening, my (finished) basement flooded. How it happened is a story, as is the sad tale of some of the items I lost. I will post to this thread as time goes on explaining what happened, Rebuilding from the flood is giving me opportunity to do things differently. One such difference is having a dedicated workshop in the basement. This is a 12.5'x 9' room, (3.81meter x 2.74meter) roughly 112.5 square ft (just shy of 10.5 sq meter) space. This may be slow going at first but I will post as I complete this out.
  16. Congrats on the GOTM win- well done man.
  17. Looking great Matt- can't wait to see it with the Tru Oil.

  19. coming out of the shadows long enough to congratulate you on the win Mike. Nice work.
