  1. There is this guy on ebay who sells templates everyonce in a while his website is Here
  2. My guitar is sprayed electric blue. It was auto paint i bought at paint mart. Made by nason or something like that. Its what i sprayed on my first guitar, very cool color.
  3. I read through it but still looking for a little bit more info. Any where else there is a walk through or something a long those lines.
  4. Is there a walk through to carved tops cause i have no idea how to do one or anything close to that. I want a carved top on my les paul, but also want to know how to do one for prs guitars too. Thanks
  5. What measurements are u looking for cause i made an explorer and ill help anyway i can.
  6. Yeah i see them on ebay all the time, made by epipone. I also know a site that has a template for one if ya want to buy a template.
  7. Wow, seems i spawned quite a topic, lol. Thanks everyone for the help and the tutorial. I think i know how im going to do it now. Mine is going to be blue and yellow like Tom Dumont from no doubt (see pic below). I still havent decided if im going to do it on a les paul or explorer or what yet we'll see i guess.
  8. Yeah i saw those, thing is i want it to be painted, not just decal stickers on it.
  9. I added a couple more pics of it being painted. I finally got it back fromt the fair and am going to take some shots of it finished as soon as i can.
  10. Anyone tempted to do one of these? Bullseye style, like the one gibson/epiphone does on the zakk wylde paint job. Im thinking about trying to do one of these, except i want it blue and yellow, not white and black. The local decal shop said they could print me out a bullseye to cover my guitar on some paper that you stick on the guitar, then peal away the spots you where u want the circles to be. I think im gonna go ahead and try it and we'll how it turns out. Just wanted to know if anyone had tried this?
  11. Awsome, thanks for all the help and the walk through. Only one question... Do i spray black matte, then clear, then put the epoxy on it? or spray black matte then put epoxy on it then put clear over it?
  12. So wait, im confussed. Can you walk me threw everything you did lgm. Do i just mix epoxy with black paint and spray it over the matte?
  13. Well, im only 16 and am in school and in woodshop. This is where i built my first guitar that won first place in the cailiforna state fair. That was last year, this is this year, which means yet more guitar building in school. Last year i thought i took on a big project because i knew nothing about guitars except how to play them. When i decided i was going to build one, i did all the research i could. Little did i know this fourm excisted lol. Would have helped me a lot then. Anyway, last year i only built one guitar. A gibson 76 explorer. Turned out awsome, exspecially since it was my first guitar. This year however im going to bump it up a level and build two guitars. 1st and formost: Les Paul Standard Limited Edition Specs: Same exact specs as normal les paul standard, except im going to use les paul custom inlays (the square ones) instead of the normal trapazoid inlays. Will also have a really thin neck on it. So that way i can use it for speed or rythem stuff. Will be dyed with a blueish greenish color (still not sure what its going to look like cause im going to mix blue and green dye until i get what i like). 2nd and will work on when not working on les paul: Ibanez Steve vai Jem7dbk Specs: Same as normal vai, except will have emg pickups and a floydrose speedloader tremelo. Will be matte black with a shiny black dirpped over top for a "textured" look. Any questions just ask, also, if anyone has information about these guitars (i.e. the thickness of bodys and stuff along those lines) let me know please. Thanks
  14. How thick are the veneer tops you guys use? Im building a les paul so i need to know how thick they are on there. I think they are 1/4 thick but not sure.
  15. How would i go about applying the finish on the jem7dkb? I know how to spray the flat matte black, but how should apply the textured look to it? LGM, you said it was prolly dripped? Would i do that with like a spaung or just like a paint brush? Im so lost on how to do this, but definitly want this finish.
  16. Hey im new round here, i finished my guitar bout feb of this year. So here are some pics of it. I am going to get some more as soon as i get it back. My woodshop teacher entered it in the state fair under school catagory and it took first place in my division. So im pretty happy bout that, only problem is they've had it for a month and a half, but i get it back next weekend. Here is the link to the pics. Let me know what you think, i will also answer any questions anyone has. As for my project for next year when i take shop again. Its going to be a steve vai Jem7JBK and a Gibson les paul custom. I think i will be able to get two done. Guitar pics
  17. I was thinking that it could possible be truck bed lining, but doesnt quite look exactly the same, im going to keep doing some more research on it. If anyone else has any ideas let me know.
  18. was wondering if anyone I was wondering if anyone knew how ibanez did the finish on the JEM7DBK and JEM90? i want to build one of these next. I want that textured paint job but not sure how to achive it. Im also going to put emgs in it and leds in the neck. Look at the links below to see what im talking about Jcm 90 Jem7 dbk
