  1. How are the wood cavitys done to where all the grain still matches up? Its kinda hard to explain so here is a pic of wardd's Gotm entry.
  2. Well, aren't you a piece of work! Rude, huh? How about assuming that your time is more important than that of others, so they should do the work finding the information that you need? Besides, I simply can't believe that you spent any real time searching, since a simple look at the section entitled Inlays and Finishing Tutorials & Reference would have immediately revealed LGM's pinned tutorials that would have answered at least most of your questions - go read them now, and in future, think before you start flapping your cake hole. You're probably not going to like this, but keep in mind, DIY does stand for Do It Yourself. If you have specific questions, no problem, but if you expect anybody to rehash a general overview of everything that's been posted on finishing around here, you're sadly mistaken! There's a very low tolerance for tantrums on this board. Tantrum, what the hell are you talking about? I guess the lack of being able to see emotions in just words can make you judge me like you did. I didnt mean to ruffle any feathers here. I thought the questions I asked were pretty specific. I cant see how I can make them come across more clearer. Just to justify. I did read through some of the tutorials, but not all. There were things that maybe I just didnt see like I stated before. Hence the whole reason I made my first post. You dont believe me? Not my problem. I could care less if you believe me or not. The pathetic thing is, I see all kinds of people here asking questions that have probably been asked before and I dont see one flame towards them. What your deal man? Is this how you treat all the new guys? And rude, yes I think you are and for someone that is a moderator of a forum I would expect you would be respectful for the sake of this site. The attitude you have shown me has me questioning the mentality of the people running this site. the flapping the cakehole thing almost had me laughing. Thats a good one. Go ahead and keep flaming me if thats what makes you feel good about yourself. I guess thats what guys like you do behind thier computer when its not face to face huh? Yea I read that one a while ago, I like the step by step of that one, really goes into detail. Thanks man. Knowing lovecraft, you prolly just bought yourself a two week vacation....
  3. I got the front maple veneer cut, i cut the veneer in half, and when i was sanding the glue joint for the back broke. I will be regluing this week, then cutting it out and gluing both onto body sometime this week or next.
  4. Wow, ten bucks to rent. pricy, id almost just rather pay a little bit more and buy them forever.
  5. general rule of thumb around here, if you know its been asked, then search till you find. We dont like answering the same quesiton multiple times just because you dont want to take more then 5-10 min to search for it. Not only do we not like to, but a lot of us wont.
  6. I got this free from work. I have no desire to play it so here. I went ahead and posted it on ebay, but im totally willing to trade some good wood or other items for it, or pull it off early if someone here is interested in it. I also will go for offers on price if someone throws me an offer and i like it ill pull it off. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  7. Welp, pic update. I didnt get as far as i wanted this week, my woodshop teacher was being uncool so i didnt get the maple cut into the shape of the body yet. I broght it home to sand the sheets flat, then hopefully depending on the weather i should have the body shape cut out and ready to glue on when i go back to school on monday. Here is pics of where i am so far. 8. I thought it would be cool to make a fourm of everyones jigs that they made, and maybe, if they want too, a possible tutorial on how to make that jig and what it does. I know it would help me.
  9. I would put up some cash, or some work either way dosent really matter to me as long as i can help out in some way. He was a great guy and will be missed by all. RIP steve

  13. Alright, well the wood for the top got here today, and the wood for the neck will be here tomarrow. Funny thing is i ordered the wood for the top 2 days after the wood for the neck and it some how beat it... Anyway, tomarrow im going to bookmatch the wood and glue it together for the top. Then friday i will cut out both front and back and glue them on the guitar. Saturday i will take the router and make both sides match the body perfect. Expect some pics fast!!!!
  14. I say go for it dude, get melvin hiscocks book though, its a definate for any guitar starter. The cool thing bout building your own, is u have controll over everything, instead of just telling someone and hoping for the best it comes out how u want it too.
  15. ive seen floyds on les pauls such as this one. I dont think they look bad, i saw if u want a floyd then go for it. He is prollly building a les paul with a floyd in it cause he cant get one with it in.
  16. Is doing a headstock harder then just a normal body? Also anyone have any decent pictures of how to do this stuff on a solid body, searched internet and just found how to on acoutic stuff.
  17. not to mention sticks are usually fast then autos . i love my prelude.
  18. Well here is a pic of the curly maple that will be used for the front and back.
  19. if i did the front and back with maple, the front and back would have abalone purlfing with a white binding. To where as if i just did the front, the front would have it.
  20. Body got planed down today to 1 1/2 inches. Im trying to decide weather i want to use a 1/4 of maple on the front, or use 1/8 on front and back like a sandwhich. Any opinions?
  21. Those i believe were hand painted by joe's sisters
  22. Just picked up some ultra flamed maple for the top. This thing is under way as soon as wood gets here.
  23. Welp, i just won an acution for some wood. One of these three pieces of wood will be the neck for the guitar. The other two will be necks for projects later on in life, good to be prepared . Now im on the mission for either a board to make my own bookmatched set or an already sawed bookmatch set piece of flamed maple.
