  1. Good day all PG forum goers. Does anybody have any favorite links regarding the 4 pole 5 way swicth with examples. I'm trying to understand them and see if I can wire a guitar that way I inted to.
  2. Nice try but no cigar. The single coli won't be split unless one is using a noiseless four conductor. In that event one coil will be switched of in the 2 and 4 positions to remain noiseless.
  3. Here's my idea.... A guitar with HSH wired the Steve Vai way...(1. Neck humbucker 2. split neck and mid 3. MIddle only 4. mid and split bridge). Now think of how cool it would be to have 3 mini switchs. Two for spliting and one thats a three way for controlling the middle pickup to turn it on/ in the circuit with the other pickups/ the reactivation of the neck and bridge only) The benifits of this set up is that you can turn your guitar mainly from HSH to HH to SSS wit a couple of flips on a switch without losing your 5 way. Or to any other combo for that matter. The only problem is... does any body have a good idea how to wire this? I've figured the basic splitting at the bridge and neck although the middle switch is driving me nuts. Any help would be much appreciated. And I think this set up would help the entire community.
  4. 22 frets. Will i get the pickups in fine. What about tonal varieties?
  5. When we look at guitar with 25.5 scale lengths we notice that they is more room for pick-ups from the end of the fret board to the bridge. and thus with guitars of 24. 3/4 length there is less room to play around. I was wondering if i had a scale length of 24 3/4 if i installed 3 pickups would i get the equal versatility if they were on a 25.5 scale guitar.
  6. As representing the new users of the form I'd like to thank everyone for their time and effort based on our passion of luthierie and the instrument that started it all. Out of all the help and assistance i've seached out on the forum I would also like a print resource to pick up some extra info that searching on this forum could not give me. Any recomendations on bu8ilding solid and hollow body guitars?
  7. I just finished modifying my Yamaha 112j. Let's see all your modified entry level guitars, such as squiers, strat copies, pacificas and any other cheap guitar built over seas. I'll post my pic later.
  8. The variax is a fairly recent guitar model (circa 2002) I personally havnt seen any and very few people have a need for them yet. Good luck trying to find one and at a cheap price. Taking apart one would be a different story. The electronics and system it works seems so complicater that I would only trust a technician to work on. Good luck anyway if you are up to it!!!
  9. This is exactly what I needed. Thanks
  10. I have never made the mistake of trying to fit a non f spaced in a f spaced guitar. All I know is that Dimarzio and other companies now offer different sized humbuckers for F-spaced bridge sizes. My advice would be measure the pole piece diameters and you'll see. Otherwise I guess you'll have to pull a Van Halen and mount it skewed which I dont suggest because 1. The pole pieces dont line as much ass they should and 2. It looks atrocious.
  11. i wasnt successful with my last post. Any tips on wiring trouble shooting? or links?
  12. I am wiring two new Dimarzio Virtural Vintage blues single coli pick-ups into my Yamaha Pacifica. I now do get sound out put when I plug in along with alot of noise even with my original humbucker. As well, my volume pot produces even more noise between 3 and 9. Any ideas on how to fix this?
  13. I have been researching wiring diagram and I was wonder where I could find information on how a 5-point strat style switch works as well as potenometers. And what their attachment men points are for.
  14. I am an absolute newbie and I want to learn more about guitar electronics. Although I have been constantly researching and gathering schematics I need to know one thing that keeps poping up. What does in phase and out of phase mean? Can Some one give me an acurate description?
