  1. the little hammered finishes look great.
  2. wow i love the batocaster! i cant believe how good everyone's first guitars are! this is my first effort: made from parts of dead guitars, im amazed i managed to build it and that it sounds good considering it cost next to nothing! its a copy of Doyles guitar from the misfits. its the only guitar i play now because it plays and sounds so good! could use a better paint job though.
  3. i once played a guitar that had screw like that (smaller) for the nut and when you hit the strings too hard they jumped out of the groves. but like above, some filing to deepen the groves would solve that. looks cool.
  4. thats it, christmas guitar, it has to be done. if its not already been done im doing it. glitter, tinsel, fairy lights, the works. it will sound like crap, but look so festive!
  5. i sort of thought similar, but more steampunk with cogs and all sorts of things going on.
  6. ok, who are you and what have you done with metal matt?
  7. hey tristan, you still not finished that anni yet! it looks mega chunky! hope you get it finished soon!
  8. i know a lot of purists on here will scoff. but i made my first guitar from pine, not even good solid pine. i glued two cubboard doors together. and out of my 7 guitars (varying in expensive and materials) i predominantly play my crappy pine built one because i believe it sounds the best. thats maybe my ears though so dont be put off until you play it and hear it
  9. looks great, you'll need to get a sound sample as well, i want to hear this thing!! (by the by DougK, im a big fan of the nookie broon too!)
  10. tip for anybody else. if you want to get a sticker off try baby oil. rub it in with your fingers, after 30 seconds the sticker *should* just start to come away in your fingers.
  11. i am loving this project so far. excellent work!
  12. i really like this axe. thats a nice piece of wood though... thought about dying it instead of solid black? i also like the fact youve gone without pots. i like to do that too. it gives the guitar a much cleaner look and ive always thought it improves the sound no end!
  13. have you JUST bought it? most places i know of give a years warranty on guitars and would fix a problem like that for free.
  14. WOW that is incredible! id be too scared to play it incase i scratched it! again... WOW !
  15. what type of bridge/saddle is it ? usually its a screw that holds the saddles in place, the same screw that adjusts them. if its just sitting loose, could it be the screws missing?
  16. i always wondered what difference it would make turning them round... what about an EMG style humbucker that has no pole pieces, would it affect the sound if turned upside down? im using one at the moment and its incredibly trebly..
  17. ah, the good ol' photographers socks. what guitar build would be without them eh?
  18. im just thinking aloud here: but what if you scaloped the intire fret board, the strings would never touch the board in order to wear it out? i think weve done ebony and rosewood to death, time for change!!
  19. necks dont last forever, a bolt is easy replaced or repaired off the guitar. personally i just think neck throughs are an auwful lot more hassel, but i admit the sandwhich guitars that show the differences in wood from headstock to bottom look great.
  20. wow... they dont make it easy, do they? the only think i can think of is... they went in... so they must be able to come out. give them a good going over with the pliers.
  21. holy mother of mary how big is that chain round your neck! i just cant decide wether i think this guitar is the ultimate in spikey or wether i think its just too radical? i'll be honest, at first i didnt like it, but seeing with the neck on and picturing it black, its growing on me! if this guitar doesnt have someones eye out then the world just isnt right!
  22. fixitfixitfixitfixitfixitfixitfixitfixit.....fixitfixitfixit!!!! dead you say? time to call Dr. Frankenstein and ressurect this baby!!
  23. i wasnt going to get into the curves and redraw it, so i just trimmed it a little. its really a matter of preference, but i think this lady looks nicer when shes slim!
  24. immediately it strikes me as a pretty good design, i dont get the stumpy feeling... i do think its ass is a bit fat. if you imagine it looking at a woman sitting down... the bum is a bit wide and hips need to come in. unless you like your girls cuddly.
