  1. So yeah, I blew my marshall, luckily it was only an MG30DFX (crappy amp, don't buy one). I decided to change the red LEDs to blue, and it looked awesome, but before i reattached the circuit board to the 'frame' of the amp, I just had to see that awesome blue color again. This time when I turned it on, I saw a large spark, which was the last sign of any life from the amp. My guitar teacher suspects I blew a fuse, but after taking a close look, I can't see any "traditional" fuses (glass). I am a complete moron when it comes to electronics (I'm 15 keep in mind). Maybe they have those fancy car-like fuses that are like little plastic inserts? I couldn't see any of those either. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for what I could try to 'resurrect' my amp? I can put up a picture tomorrow if it will help.
  2. If you're using the Mirage, it comes in a 3-stage kit with primer, color, and clear. Supposedly, the dark primer is essential to get the "deep color-changing effect." Thanks for all the compliments on the pants too (it was a weekend)
  3. Absolutely! The 3M products are very good, and if you are made of money, you can also pick up the Perfect-it II, to be used after the Finesse-It II.
  4. I waited a month, but it could have easily been 5 weeks. If you use two kits like I did, I'd let it sit for 5 weeks.
  5. Yep, that's the flip flop paint. I got 2 kits of the stuff, used about 1.5 cans of primer, then 2 cans of color and 2 cans of clear. In total, the paint was about 60 bucks Canadian. Takes forever to cure, and dont even think of putting it down on anything. It must be hung or you will have a nice imprint of whatever it is laying down on. As you can tell, it sanded/buffed out to a very nice shine without too much trouble and I would certainly recommend it if you have the patience! Any more questions, just ask!
  6. Check out some pics of my first refinish. It's an ESP F-200 I did in Dupli-color Mirage Red/Blue paint. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p...84966&members=1 By the way, I think everyone should give the meguire's glaze in the pictures a shot, as it gave an incredible shine in not too long.
  7. I'm currently just finishing up my ESP F-200 with the Dupli-color red/blue paint. Contrary to what some other people think, I believe that it looks awesome. It will, however, cost you many, many hours of prepping, waiting (takes about a month to cure ), and the part I'm on, final sanding. You will also probably need two kits of the stuff for a decent, even finish (about 30 bucks canadian per kit, 20-25 american I imagine). The spray nozzles on the cans are top-notch, best I've ever seen on a spray can. While curing, however, you CANNOT set the guitar down on ANYTHING. Even on a t-shirt, the imprint of the fabric will be left in the clear coat. It takes forever to cure, and I highly recommend that you make some sort of jig so you can hang the guitar. I used a scrap piece of wood screwed into the neck pocket, then drilled a large hole on the other end to hang it. Anyway, the stuff is looking great on my guitar as I finish up the wet sanding. If you don't do any sanding after letting the paint cure, it will look terrible, as any spray paint will. After sanding and buffing however, you can achieve a mirror shine. I agree with the others in that your guitar should have curves for this effect, which is why I did my guitar (wicked curves). http://www.espguitars.com/ltd_f.htm If you do decide to go ahead with the Dupli-color, feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. All it takes is some effort, patience, and about 2 months for an awesome guitar!
