  1. i havent been here for a while, havebt really had a project to work on, but now im refinishing/hotrodding a squire bass. so my question is, it has the stock Fender/squire paint job on it, and i want to take the p[aint of, right down to the wood (i might be staining the guitar) the guitar has a few nicks on it, so what should i do to remove the paint?? chemical? sand? heat? sand blast? i dunno what to do, ive never had to go right down to the wood before. thanks in advance. canadianstrat :can
  2. ok, this isnt my pic, but im very curious as to how this finish is acquired, ive seen it on many guitars, and it always gives me that funny feeling in my pants, i want to know how to do, im shure i can find tutorials, but i dont know what the fisnish i called. any help would be great. also, whats the point of bindings on a guitar and neck, aside from astetic?
  3. oh, im also looking for a tremolo bar. where would i find that?
  4. wow, that was a lot of info, thanks a lot, umm, how do i build a neck from scratch,(web sit totourials, or books i can buy) and how would i go about refinishing the body? it has bindings, and i really dont want to ruin it, or can i just sand it down a bit and put a nother layer of gloss to cover up the scratches? i havent touched it at all. where would i be able to get the teisco logo, since i want to put it back on if i decide to keep the neck, 1/2 of the logo is worn off, and the pickups are missing the plastic mount that goes around them, i want to replace that if im going to keep the pickups (which is now what im thinking im going to do.) thatnks for all your help, and i will keep you guys posted.
  5. im not shure what type of guitar it is, got to http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=11836 thats in the hollowbody section. there are more pics of it, the body looks like yours bluespresence, but the rest defenetly does not, like i said find the post in hollowbodies forum, and youl get more detailed photos. but thanks anyways. if it is a Teisco, what would it be worth, and what should i do as far as pickups, and the whole neck thing. i defentily want a new neck, since i am a very big guy, it looks bizzar on me. it is a small guitar.
  6. what do you mean move the bridge?? and how do i get a photo in my posts??
  7. i dont know what neck yet, i posted it onthe hollow body forum, but no one seems to help much, i want to put a longer scale neck, the current one is way to short, and has a fret right bellow the nut, which only creates buzzing. none the less go to the hollow body page, and you can see more pics of this "antique" and thanks for the welcome, are you a canuck as well?? asumming so by the flag. take care
  8. umm, if you have it on the computer, then you can bring it into photoshop, if you want ill give it a go in photoshop, but, like i said, if its on the net, you can bring it to photoshop yourselfe. if you need help with photoshop, e-mail me, im pretty good at it, wborland60@hotmail.com
  9. ok, i know its not much compared to what you guys have done, and i have seen some very cool stuff on here, but its my first project, its not 100 percent done yet, im changing the pickups, eventually, but the paint job is done. here it is, my Canadian Stra. my new project is a hollow body that i am refinishing, and changing the neck, i have a post in the acoustic and hollow body forum, but here is a before pic. im probably gonna keep it all origional except the neck and pickups.
  10. ok, got some pics, this is the body of the guiar assebled. the bridge is 2 peices, the part that holds the strings, and the part that acts like sadles. the saddle part, is not skrewed down to the guitar, and can be moved around. this si the neck, the tunign keys are beside it, and i am planning on replacing the keys. they dont hold very well. now a few close ups, nothing is really skrewed down, and there are suppose to be 2 pickups, both the same, but i didnt put them there. this is the bottom of the neck, where you adjust the truss rod the body striped this is what i thought was the only marking on the guitar, its whats left of the crest on the guitars headstock. i kinda increased the quality a bit. then when i took the guitar appart, i found this on the inside of the guitar. its a sticker and it was righ under the tone volume and selector pannel. ok, so i posted the picks, now i just need some help, like i said before, i just want to change the neck, and refinish the body, then i eventually want to put in new pickups. thanks
  11. it actually is a bolt on neck, im going to take pics of it and post them, just got to bring my camera home from work. BTW, i did get the error message, sorry about the multiple posts, now i knoew thanks.
  12. ok, i have this very old hollow body, and i dont know much about it, but i want to refinish it, put new pickups, and maybee even change the neck, but there are no markings on the guitar to help me identify it, any ideas as to how i might be able to, i will post some picks on here laer, but in the mean time, im looking for something like a web site that helps or something like that. thanks in advance.
