Hey guys cheers for the comments! The Copper is 2mm thick. I bought it at the scrap yard. The copper is glued to the body and clamped tight. Of course all the screws from the bridge and pickups etc etc hold it into place nicely as well. The LEDS were placed so that they wearnt obstructed by my arm/hand when im playing... no use having lights if no-one in the crwod can see em!!! hehe Mark

Hi all, This is my fourth build, thought id show you all some pics! I always wanted to laminate a piece of copper onto the front of a guitar. Ive done aluminum in the past (might post pic of that guitar later if people are keen) but decided to try some copper this time. The copper is clear coated to stop it from tarnishing using 2pak paint. The pickups are a Kent Armstrong Motherbucker in the middle position and a custom Brierly Bucker on the bridge. After much deliberation (and a suggestion from Tim @ Tym guitars) we decided to wire an on/off for each coil along with a volume control for each coil as well. This enables you to mix and match as well as blend different parts of each pickup together..... Theres TONS of sounds available. Also is a kill switch which the Lights are wired to as well. When im doing the Tom Morello stuff the guitar flashes. Bit wanky but i love it cause its different! :biggrin: I intend to use this guitar a lot on the new record we are about to record in two weeks time. I have had this problem a few times. It was always the ground to the bridge that wasnt soldered good enough to the back of the volume pot. Id almost gaurantee that will be the problem... Regards Mark

Hi all, Quick question. Ive just finished wiring a bass with a passive musicman Humbuker pickup. For some reason when you touch the strings really lightly it pops and crackles. The bridge is gounded... Ive wired in a coil split and phase switch as well as a kill switch. It also seems to pop and click when using the kill switch as well.. Any ideas???? Regards Mark

Interesteing Idea but I dont think it would work too well. I have individual mini switches for each pickup on one of my guitars and I just tried it and I really couldnt notice a difference when switching one pickup on and off. If I switch the phase over on the neck pickup it works a little better cause it cuts out some of the frequencies when both pickups are engaged. It doesnt at all sound like a a tremelo pedal. However the same guitar does have a master kill switch and you can do some "tremeloish" sounding stuff with that. Tom Morello style for instance.. Mark

to fix your problem i'd get some decent wood and sand it round to suit. Glue it in and redrill to suit. Dont use pine as this is likely to happen again. Tip: Make sure you keep the button screwed up tight. (Ie. Check them every month) When they become a little loose they work them selves out pretty fast... For fitting Schaellers I use this method as the screws are smaller than a lot of factory screws. 1. Get some larger screws and screw them into a piece of scrap wood about half way in. 2. Pull out your angle grinder and grind down the head of the screw so it fits in nicely. Dont take too much off or you wont be able to screw it in! 3. use a small round file to enlargen the hole in the button to accomodate the larger screw. Works for me everytime. Mark

Hi all, I need some help with some simple wiring. Ive just finished of my 4th guitar and have completed the wiring using the Seymour duncan schem for 1 humbuker/1 volume. The guitar is a single Humbucker (2 wire), Volume Pot and Kill switch. Ive added the kill switch between the pot and the output jack and it works fine. My problem is even though everything is grounded I still have a grounding problem. As soon as I touch the bridge or volume pot its fine. It has a fixed strat bridge which is grounded. The output jack is grounded, the pickup is grounded, the pot is grounded and the switch is grounded etc etc. Ive checked all the grounds with a multi meter and they are fine. I've removed the switch thinking it was faulty with no changes. I've used the usual "Star" grounding method - ie: a common ground to the back of the volume pot. I've also noticed that when I touch the pickup the hum gets a bit louder which is weird. I was thinking that maybe the pickup is faulty or something. The pickup does work but i noticed when I switch on a gain channel it feeds back really easily. It is a cheap pickup but ive put 6+ in guitars before without an issue. Its driving me crazy! Any ideas? Regards Mark

Have you tried wiring it into the guitar yet? I built a kit like that and it works great. The only problem is it created crackling and slightly distorts the guitars tone. Mark

Hi all, Been a lurker for ages. Time to start posting seeing as ive just finished my first guitar... I just built a VU meter kit and wired it up to the output of my guitar and it works sweet! It all lights up beautifully. I didnt even need to have a preamp at all... Only problem is when i wire it in with the normal guitar output I get crackling etc. I have wired the hot out to the + in on the circuit and the ground to the neg in. Any suggestions? Mark
