  1. By the way, Hector, I wasn't trying to say you were wrong. I think the cigar box Uke/Mando looks really neat and was just a little confused when I only saw four tuning pegs. I like that we're seeing something other than the standard guitar or bass.
  2. Isn't that more of a cigar box Ukelele? Mandolins typically have eight strings.
  3. You could use flat top cylindrical LEDs, or dome top and flatten them. With the flat top, you might be able to use them to fill the entire hole for the inlay. Size, and color, would be purely a preference thing. Generally LEDs come in a few sizes... 3mm, 5mm, 8mm and 10mm. If you don't want the LEDs filling the entire inlay hole, you could use a clear inlay with the LED underneath it. The one I remember seeing a while back had everything wired just above the truss rod.
  4. Thanks for the link, I had already read through all the tutorials. I just hadn't found a post (through search, or otherwise) that adequeatly answered my question in particular. I have a way that I paint that I could really only acheive through brush work and was just curious about whether it had been done before, if it's a worth attempting, and so on. Sorry for any inconveniences.
  5. I'm just curious about acceptable types of paints that can be used on a guitar... things such as: Are there any paints that shouldn't be used? What are the most common paints used? Has anyone ever hand-brushed a guitar as opposed to air brushing? Is hand-brushing a guitar frowned upon?
  6. I'm totally in love with that head stock. I've always personally found that the headstock will either make, or break, a great guitar design. It goes without say that that is a mean headstock. I love it.
  7. I really like the colors, but just out of preference, I would think that it would make the to be great looking neck even nicer if the center laminate was a tad thicker. Just my opinion though. Otherwise, the woods are gorgeous.
  8. I've highlighted the important parts (my questions) in red, incase you want to skip all the background info. I've been thinking about trying to do a custom paint job and replacing hardware to match on my guitar. Throughout this process, I keep stumbling across the idea of getting a tremolo and tremolo bar added to my guitar. I am just curious about whether the tremolo and locking nut (say, a floyd rosenburg) could be added to any guitar? Right now I am using an Epiphone G-310. The bonus to possibly screwing up this project is it will finally give me a reason to go out and finally get my hands on an Ibanez IC200-400. OH! And on a side-note, I figure it'd help to ask this question now, as opposed to creating a new thread later on. I took apart my guitar to get used to it and get to know it a bit better. The problem is, the humbuckers are mounted against the pickgaurd using springs and two screws. Like an idiot, while trying to unscrew the humbuckers, I stopped paying attention as a friend was talking and screwed it the wrong way. This added far too much stress on the pickguard and seems to have slightly cracked it. Now I am at the stage of trying to re-piece together my guitar and I cannot get the second stupid humbucker to mount properly. Would this be due to the cracked pickguard possibly not allowing the screw to go straight down? Perhaps the part of the pickup where the screw attaches has been bent out of position? Any ideas?
