The inlay is made by several pieces. It's thick about 3 mm. I used it on my JEM project. Sorry I lost the pix so my tread doesn't show them anymore. BTW it's really close to the original. The stem is made from 2 pieces, then you have to cut it for fretting. Gian

Ehehe, yeah I didn't read all the post What kinda of lamer BTW they use Tru Oil but there's the shellac undercoat. I didn't try it that way but I guess the shellac avoids just that problem. Gian

Are you going to apply Tru oil on an acustic guitar? I know oli finishes are more inclined to umidity. As Mattia also said, more "tud" than ring. I wouldn't apply it. Gian

Yeah you're right about the relief cuts. He says that doesn't apply heat to avoid moisture in the wood. But at this point I believe it could damp the area and press the top in a vacuum press. Maybe he does this way. Gian

Hi folks, I read on the Anderson's forum he use no heat to fold the top!!! I read the tutorial so I always thought he did that way. I saw pix where the tops are "scaped" in the folded area. Can anyone explain me how he does? Gian

What's happening now it's something really strange and frustrating!!! I'm getting only trouble with the paint and my spraygun. I sanded down the body cuz after all the job (I painted it in february!!) it was scratched and dirty!!! Now I cannot have my paint flowing nice and I get a lot of orange peel (not the ordinary one you get with spray applications but bigger!!!), dust in the paint, spits. It doesn't matter what I do, (tried to set the gun in any possible way, any air pressure beetween 30 and 50 PSI, any dilution, any distance from gun to body). The spray gun I have it's used in automotive shop, tip is 1,4 mm. It works cuz I did bring it to a shop to try it. Temperature is about 15 centigrade. I mix my paint in a glass can and I clean it every time. I'm using a lot of thinner to clean everything and I disassemble my gun every time for cleaning. It doesn't matter how much time I wait after mixing (10 or 30 mins like Jeremy says). I'm getting crazy cuz I actually dunno where I'm wrong. This never happened before with my spray gun or rattle cans!!! Gian

Always the same debate. But do people know that a lot of guitars like Anderson, Music man, Fender, G&L, PRS use Poly? I hear only positive comments about those guitars and not that the finish it's too thick or kill the tone!!! I agree with mattia about oil finish but maybe on a solid body isn't really an issue. The finish usually hardens, you know?!?! , and it vibrates with wood. It's not a cloth you put on your guitar to stop vibrations!!! Gian

Yeah it is a good quality perloid inlay. You can buy it from Al Intenso on eBay. If I'm not wrong the shop's name is "aiguitars". The design seems to be the one from Alex Van Der Linde, I did read a post where he said it. Gian

You're right about what you say, in fact now it's not the season for that stuff. Usually big tubs are available in the summer. Now it seems hardware stores have not them but only medium and small tubs. A friend of mine talked me about a place I can look for. I will let you know. Gian

Mattia believe me, here in Naples I wasn't able to find a big tub. I will look for something large can contain water. I like airbrushing but.... yes I began with the swirl idea in mind and it's better if I continue with it. Gian

Yes, there's no problem with swirling. I did practice and I liked what I ended up with. I know the process so it's ok. For borax i know alternatives but I don't trust soap in my paint, btw there are other shops not too far from my home selling borax. For the tub, I'm still searching what you did suggest me without results! And I should leave it outside with this cold.... I don't know, I'm still thinking if swirl the body or try it in the spring on another guitar and airbrush this one. Gian

Hey buddies I've a problem I did practice on scrap and I had all ready for swirl but I thought I could finish on september. Now here is really cold and I have the fear to crack the body or the paint with the cold water. If I leave the tub outside just one hour the water becomes really cold. I did practice on scrap but I still didn't find the big tub for the real thing, so this is another problem. The guy where I bought the borax doesn't sell it anymore so I should search another suppply and here it's really hard to find. Things are going worse and I believe I can't swirl the body now Third problem , since I wanted achieve the DNA pattern I bought the PU black/green with the red singol coil.... so if I would want to paint the body... what colors/scheme would you suggest me? I was thinking to do some airbrushing but I can't figure out any good graphic considering the PU colors and the perloid vine inlay. Any suggestion, idea or picture is really appreciated!!! Gian

Thanks. Yeah it looks great... just a scratch near the nut I had to fix. I was surpriced at the inlay. I could not believe I did it For the carve I just used the rasp and the sand paper. I already own a JEM so I just copied the back. Once I finished I did frettind and tried the neck..... it went good I was lucky Gian
