    Is it possible to buy a guitar with a normal finish (like a solid colour), strip it down and then put a flame or quilt maple top onto the body and refinish it?

    so if i pre-measured the area I wanted the sand then did it by hand it would work?? i would probably take about 9mm off the neck joint. Would I need to buy shorter screws for the neck plate? Thanks for the input

    I was thinking, if you used a disc sander and kept it flat around the back of the neck over the area where the neck plate is, could you take about 1cm off the body to give more access at the neck? I might try this soon. Can this be done, do you think? Sorry if I haven't explained it very well. Thanks

    Erm... I want to put one on as stock guitar. If your interested, its a Yamaha RGX121, pretty low end model, be good by the time I'm finished with it. Why do I need to be careful? Thanks all. P.S Thanks Project Guitar, I found Universaljems.com through you. That site is ace!

    yes please, i love PRS guitars. i'm probably gonna put a PRS headstock on my first home built guitar no matter what the shape is cos they rule. Thanks for the MIMF link Alex, I might order the Flying V blueprints!

    Two questions (they might be stupid but im new to guitar making) 1. I plan on buying a maple neck-thru-body neck and putting alder on the sides of it. Is this a good or bad combination? What are the pros and cons of it? 2. With a neck thru and alder wings, is it possible to rout for a floyd rose trem? Thank you

    Hey people, I just found this site and I think it's great! So much information! I have been considering building my own guitar for a while and this site has decided for me. So, I'm gonna get a summer job, work really hard and make lots of money to fund it. At least that's the plan! Nice to meet you all!
