  1. knowing how much of a technical Geek Ron is ( sorry ron ..hahaa- Ron has actually built custom CNC just for kicks in the past) ...those estimates are probably very accurate down to the minute..at least for his guitars
  2. Ron did a great breakdown of the process of one of his guitars on this topic http://www.thornguitargallery.com/customguitarhtm/faq3.htm
  3. Burl..i can see why you could say that? it does have similar type grain...i'm not a wood expert but isn't Burl maple usually a darker color raw..here what mine looked like raw.it's pretty white http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/MOJO...ITARS/048-5.jpg
  4. i've always been a big shark nut ,we just gave a little tribal design to give it some zing... , here's how the rest turned out http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/MOJO...RS/c88b6ffc.jpg
  5. Here are my 2 Thorns Quilt maple and combo of Quilt and birdeye together
  6. since you've covered the top i'd find someone to do a cool graphic PRS..maybe something unique and never seen on a PRS what did you do as far as inlays on the new board { are they still birds ?? } maybe something to tie in with them or someone recently re did their PRS to the old very valuable "Metal" model it not an original but i think it turned out pretty cool..( you could do any color you want) http://www.prsforums.com/forums/index.php?...&hl=metal+model i always thought a charvel Hot Rod flame job would look wild on a PRS maybe some flip flop flames paint??
  7. i've personally been ripped off by Ed on some guitar parts in the past..so i'm perfectly qualified to call him "the weasel" that he is... Ed is in no way, shape or form associated with Mcnaught guitars any longer..Dave dropped him as an authorized dealer like many of the other top Builders... Driskill, Anderson ,Melancon,Mcinturff..he trashed them all after they got out from his Exclusive dealership rights avoid at all cost unless you want to wind up with a fake copy or imitation Mcanught sorry ;( back on topic if you want any finish info talk to Dave Mansel ( he does all of Mcnaught's finishes) he may not give you the their "secret recipe" but he's been very helpful to me in the past as far as how to go about getting the fire/fllame look i was after for my first Thorn http://www.thornguitargallery.com/galleryhtm/dc021.htm dave site is http://www.paintbydave.com/
  8. the link you may have seen is soulmate guitars http://www.soulmateguitars.com/Necks.htm talk to Doug maybe he'll do a body for you also..the worst he can say is no here's a great site of someone who uses Doug's necks and creates his own bodies..great photos that really show you how to go about doing one click on guitar photo's for complete build of each http://www.guitaristjeffmiller.com/guitars.htm
  9. i've tried to contact Jim a couple of times for some pics of some of the bodies he's done but i've never got a response? Jim ( or anyone else that might have some pics) if you can send me a few pics i'd appreciate it my email is mjochomp@verizon.net

  11. actually your inlay came out pretty damn good especially if by hand here's Ron's "original" (in case no one's ever seen it before ) http://p092.ezboard.com/fthornnewsanddiscu...opicID=32.topic
