  1. Wow that's a real JawDropper right there!!! amazing work and a beautiful piece of wood. Thanks for sharing //Ken1
  2. Totally AWESOME man!!! it really does stand out as a "professional" handmade guitar, and it will inspire many off us mere mortals to aim a little higher .. thanks for sharing //Ken1
  3. thanks ... Maiden69 no it is not an 80's kramer .. although I've had several real nice kramers that I stupidily sold ... including that american sustainer de luxe model .... .. but this one is a "new" musicyo kramer ... plays very well since I replaced the tremolo block....big differense Is it from the cheap series they sell or the American? I almost bought one when they started to sell them, but the price was too good to be true. I miss my Focus, I think that I will get the Template to make one! I haven't owned a Floyd in more than 7 years. Maiden69 ... (sorry it has taken me a while to answer this) it is indeed from the cheapie series, "striker" .... I bought it being prepared to upgrade it with new pups and such .. turned out ..it is every bit as good to play on as any of my earlier much more expensive kramers ... the neck is absolutely wonderful .... the F.R. was another thing I dredded .. that was the main reason I got rid of em long time ago .. I am not crazy about floyd rose ... and sure enough .. it was a little bit of pain in the rear ... I use 0.11-0.50 and it did seem to be a little to much for it to handle .. then I stumbled across some ad about a new block for FR ... and I just did one for myself that night, mounted it ..and it was a new guitar !! made a huge difference much more than I ever expected ... Soundwise it has some extra creative wiring with one of the pots being a push/pull pot ... but the sound is pretty much .. hmmm .. super dist .. and super duper dist .. hehehe .. it has those I think they call them quad rail's I do believe they are some gibson low budget pups ... So over all I love that guitar .. with the trem block ... and I will replace at least 1 HB it is a very nice guitar for the bucks.. have a good one //Ken1
  4. Thank you very much for all your kind comments, I'm glad you liked it .... thank you Foggy, well yes it took a good amount of hours to make ..hhehehe being an amateur an all .. thanks ... Maiden69 no it is not an 80's kramer .. although I've had several real nice kramers that I stupidily sold ... including that american sustainer de luxe model .... .. but this one is a "new" musicyo kramer ... plays very well since I replaced the tremolo block....big differense Thats my current collection of electrics, and I always try to play my guitars as much as I can meaning, I don't want to have them if I don't play 'em .... so to speak .... keeping them out in the open makes me remember to play em all ... and remember me to practise as well .... But I do not gig nowadays, but if I would go out n play ... I would most certainly take maybe 2 electric and 2 acoustics or something... well thanks again for all the nice feedback have a good one //Ken1
  5. Hello all! ( First, I am not sure this is the right place in the forum to post this ... ) ( so if I'm in the wrong place I'm sorry ) I completed these 2 days ago, and I've been insecure if I should post it or not, thinking it may not be something interesting to watch. But anyway, since this is my own design, and it does worked out as planned .. My goal was to create a compressed 8 guitar stand, having some shortage of space, I tried to make it as compact as possible, and also flexible, cause of the possibility to use it either as a pyramid/circle 8stand or two pieces of 4stand. The thing I haven't done yet is to mount two "snap on" lock to secure the two pieces together ... and then the last tweak will be small pieces of transparent hose on the small pieces of wood rods on the side of the neck, to eliminate any chance to make marks on the side of the neck if moving the stand and making the guitar to switch from side to side. I'm sure it's not really an issue, but I've padded the grip on the front with leather and foam, and on the back of the "locks" with foam .. so I might as well do the "hose thing" some of the pictures are not very good "taken inside my kitchen" .. but ..thats life. I'm saticfied with them, being a beginner woodworker wannabe ..Oh well here goes: well thats all folks .. you have a good one //Ken
  6. Hello and thank you very much for your replys!! yes thats the multiac I was thinking about, I've wanted one since I saw it the first time used by a jazz dude .. and now I'm currently into practising "reedology" with the guidance of buster b jones's dvd ... and that just adds to the craving so to speak .. hehehe I am not very experienced building guitars, I've built 5 so far and a couple of necks .. when it comes to tools, I've got alots of em, including bandsaw, routers, etc ... and fretting tools , well lets face it, I'm hooked to guitarbuilding hehehe ... as well as playing ... I recently built 3 necks archtop stylish ... sorry about the poor img quality .. well I originally constructed them as a practise, and I did build them to hold steel strings .. so having said that, the heads are not designed to hold the gut stringed mechanics ..but ... Since I've been playing electric guitars for 25yrs or so, I do prefer the narrower setup of the necks, regarding stringspacing and so. I've searched high and low throughout the net to try to find some "build tutorial" for such a type of guitar ... "the godin multiac that is" but haven't found one yet. I think that if I get to do this project, and if it does turn out to be something that I really use, I will it try to get a "real" one sooner or later .... I currently have 14 guitars, and I don't want to save forever and buy a guitar that will spend it's time in my guitarrack not being played upon ... so I figure doing a sneak version, will get me an idea of how useful it will be. Thought about making a hollow body with maybe a plywood top and bottom and some sound chambers within .. but I may be better off using a acoustic's top as suggested... well sorry for the brainstorm ... and thanks for answering me //Ken1
  7. Hi all, I really want to try to build a "poor mans wannabe" godin multiac type gut stringed guitar. I would buy one in a heartbeat but cannot afford it, so I will try to build one, except for the midi/ synth access ... thats not something I will bother about ... so basically it is questions like: what kind of electronics should I use? I think I've remember reading a statement from chet atkins that a solid body gut stringed thinline sounded better and didn't feedback as much ... any thoughts about that ? Now I will certainly use it most of the time "unplugged" so it should sound ok acoustically ... but I am not aiming for a high quality acoustic sound ... I want a comfortable gut stringed multiac inspired guitar. Any thoughts about fretboard type ? Fretboard radius ? frets? Body ? solid / hollow ? thanks in advance for any help or hint that can point me in the right direction //Ken1

  9. ---- describing the tele ---- This "tele" style guitar is not a fender in any way, I've built it from scratch ... and the so called logo on the headstock is painted by hand intentionally so that it is obvious that it is not a real fender ... because I don't want to counterfit or that anyone think I try to pull a stunt like that ... thats why I made the logo "shaky" and then named it frankencaster to remove any doubt ..
  10. should work now though .. thanks for pointing it out to me.. have a good one //Ken1

  13. Hello all! I've been trying to get my head around building guitars, it's very addictive. I'm a luthier rookie don't have any education, and really don't have a clue to what I'm doing .. but still I do it .. heheheh, and I've only done parts before, but this time I made 2 from scratch ... 1 tele - style guitar 1 Ken1 - custom -- (the croc) I finished a tele style guitar today, and a custom "my preferences" guitar .. they both play well, especially the custom which plays very well .. way better than I expected it to ... -----describing it ---------- The second completed today ... I've tried to gather my favorite preferences into this one, ... maple neck, H.S.H (steve vai wiring scheme) scalloped from 15 to 24 ... very easy access to the higher frets ... tonerider HB's and Kent Armstrong in the middle the headstock laminated with ebony for strength.... --------------------------- the croc1 the croc 2 the croc 3 the croc 4 and the tele style ---- describing the tele ---- This "tele" style guitar is not a fender in any way, I've built it from scratch ... and the so called logo on the headstock is painted by hand intentionally so that it is obvious that it is not a real fender ... because I don't want to counterfit or that anyone think I try to pull a stunt like that ... thats why I made the logo "shaky" and then named it frankencaster to remove any doubt .. oh well, nothing fancy, rosewood neck (made more black) and an old PAF in the neck, and a K.Armstrong in the bridge ... my own painting scheme ... my first completed tele style guitar -------------------------- tele1 tele 2 tele3 okie dokie thats all from me today .. hope you like em .. have a good one //Ken1 // I hope the pictures show this time *grin* __________________ ** I'm no longer young enough to know everything **
  14. Very nice guitar ... I think it's great that you started out a new webbpage about your projects. I'm trying to do the same, but never gets around to it ... (still in the beginning of amateurish guitarbuilding) it's the coolest hobby ..(right after playing them) anyway cool regards from sweden //Ken1
  15. Thank you very much for the help! I think I've not really grasped the difference between a resonatorand a dobro .. I thought it was the same thing, and just "nicknamed" DOBRO after the company that made them .. hmm.. Dobro and National Steel, didn't they used to be the two leading companies manufactoring Resonator guitars ? Or did I get this completely wrong ?
