    when u attach the template to route the neck why not just use a fine saw and cut the binding along the edges so the router wont tear a huge section off. Just the small bit along the neck side edge of the pocket? I don't see why it wouldn't work this way but then again I've never tried

    Hey guys long time no post I decided to take some time off from posting my builds till i felt i had made an instrument of decent quality. I think i finally have body- single piece of mahogany stained and finished to look rusted TOM bridge and thru body furrels Matching mahogany pickup cover currently an EMG 81 installed neck-3 piece maple bolt on neck. (no pics yet sorry but soon) control are just one volume to the output. here it is: here is it outside, front shot: And here is a side shot to show how thin it is:

    Hello everyone long time no post. I was asked a question earlier today and started thinking what would happen my self. The question was what would happen if you were to plug a combo amp, with no built in speaker output, to a cab? More specificly it was a line 6 spider III 120 watt into a randall 2x12 made to handle 160watts. Now the line 6 does not have a speaker out but does have a line out for recording or headphones. Could this work (saftley!) as opposed to having to add your own line out? Or would your amp and/or cab get fried?

    Thanks man. I realy like the art. The top wolf is in detail and seriouse looking to show the heavy music side fo me but the bottom wolf is done in a more aboriginal painting style to show that side of me.

    Well it has been a super long since i posted any progress on this build.     @ our souls inc: How do you go about making your speed knobs? Ive been meaning to make some for my current project but i dont have a lathe. p.s sorry for hijaking the thread My knobs on my old cory zenox measure 15/16 on top and 1" on bottom

    treat it as you would any other type of wood working project: always leave room for error as they do often occur, i cant realy say how much to leave for sanding. its realy up to you how much work you want to do sanding it and how comfident you are in your tools that they dont cause catostophic problems lol. Personaly i try to get my baords as flat and even as possible within the limit of its thickness. (planing down to be flat and ending up with 3/4"thats ment to be 1-3/4"dont make much sense does it?). Im no master builder or anything either. Im sure one of the vastly more experirnced builders here will be able to help you out. best of luck on your project.

    The first guitar I built was a King V and it was from a cuttingboard made up of glued up squares of wood lol. The tone was however terrible!!!

    Wouldnt it be difficult to reach the upper fretts with that cut-out?

    hello Bugi. From the sounds of it your ibanez has a diffrent scale than what you originaly thought(wich seems unlikly). is the ibanez a 24 fret as well? My only sugestion is triple check all the measurments on Wfrett and Stew-Mac and your fretboard. This may help: http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/neck.htm the measurments for a 25.5" are about 3/4 down the page in metric and imperial. good luck on your project id hate to see a good peice of maple go to waste.

    well at first i would have suggested using a router and a template but that is unnavailible... i would say get a flat peice of wood or buy a sanding block and use some good old fashioned elbow grease. if you intend to build more guitars i suggest getting urself a router, flush trim bit and make yourself some templates. beleive me it saves so mush work and frustration. (keep in mind i am by no means an expert at all and have limited experience with hand tools ) good luck to you my friend

    It realy isnt that great of a guitar. The neck was severly miss-aligned. The high E string was off the frett board. Fixed that up though all the electronics were not even wired up!. Currently putting it back together. Im not so sure its the ET200 though. notice the strange curve near the bridge as well as were the strap button is. the ET200 is almost a completly diffrent body from this one. same bridge however. thanks for the imput everyone.

    hey guys i was wondering if anyone here knows what this guitar is: I picked this up at a yard sale for $4. The man i baught it off of did not know the history on it or much about it as it was his sons. After examining it some more i determined that it has a plywood body and the neck, although fender in shape, has no logo or number on the back. Another interesting thing about this guitar that realy caught my attention was the strangness of its pickups and bridge peices: If anyone knows anything about this model of guitar please let me know.

    thank you for the advise Drak and others. after re-reading my post i realized how similer this idea is to an archtop guitar. Do you have any recomended reading on the subject of acoustic construction and building. i have been reading the tutorials here and elsewere but i would there no such thing as learning to much . good thing i havnt started this project lol.

    The title basicly says it all. ive done countless searches here and found that almost everyone has said that there very quiet and have no volume at all. this i know to be true as i own a PRS semi-hollow but i was wondering. What if u had/built an electric guitar but had it completly hollowed out with only a small block for the neck joint, the neck pickup is screwd right to the top wood and the bridge was tune-o-matic screwed to a block of wood that was attached to the top wood but NOT the bottom. and a sound hole of course. Being roughly 1-3/4" to 2" in thickness. i know the volume on acoustics is from the top wood vibrating hence the bridge not being full attached. also to resolve the bridge/string tension on the top wood the stop peice will be the style arch tops have. im hoping this will be a future project of mine. fridge

    thanks for the iformation pete. im not realy that good with electronics and the such. would the guitar being a semi-hollow bodyaffect the acoustic tone of the piezo?

    Ok so what about this idea: a pre-amp is required to make the peizo have an equal output to the pickup right? well what if the pickup was "hidden" under the pickguard? an idea i found on another forum. the greater distance would cut back the pup's output significantly would it not? plus an "invisible" pup is kinda kewl

    thanks for the info chris. we jsut want to experiment to see if we can get an alright electric guitar sound and as well as an acceptable resemblance to an acoustic guitar sound while plugged in. If it works itl be fun to just fool around with in a jam.
