The neck pocket looks shallower than 5/8" to me. It could be an optical illusion, but ...

It's possible that it's a combination of a slightly shallower pocket and a thicker than normal neck heel. Slight adjustments can be made to both to make it better.
As far as the price/country of origin of the neck, IMO it shouldn't matter too much. As long as it's straight and the truss rod works, any neck can be made playable. At least until it warps.
Assembling a guitar from parts is not hard to do. The body maker should have requested that the neck come to him for test fitting before the body was shipped.
My two cents, now 50% off.

I'm a big fan of your builds (you had me at "Scattesquire").
Congrats on the win.

I haven't been around in a while, but one thing's for sure: the more things change the more they stay the same.
-
I think that neck needs a volute.
-
My MZ3 MIM Standard Strat doesn't have any provision for a Micro-Tilt.
-
It depends on what you're using it for, but I use TO as a neck finish and apply it with my fingers. No rags to dispose of, only the nitrile gloves I wear while working.

I showed that to my wife and her jaw hit the floor. Outstanding work, Craig.

Well shoot, if Drak's back maybe there will be some more folks crawling out of the woodwork. So to speak.

One more thing: NO NOODLING BETWEEN SONGS!
I hate that.

Sorry to hear that Russ. I'll pass it on.

Ditto what's been said. It'll get out before long, I'm sure.

+1. Bill may be a little behind, but all orders get filled.

One of these days I will need to visit one of these other countries for something like this...Maybe I will get lucky and be able to pull a vacation to pick up my guitar when it is competed in person or something...My luck I would be attacked by a wallaby...or a Dingo..
Hey Wes, we are coming back to the USA in July or August, and hitting LA, Oklahoma and Vegas. Just so you know I expect your guitar to be done well before then though.
Let me know where/when you'll be in Oklahoma.

Titebond as grainfiller?
Can you get epoxy? You know, the stuff that comes in a double syringe? Much better, will "protect" the wood and you can paint over it.

I got this body from ebay seller delta.luthiery about a year ago and it's been sitting ever since. Routed for P90, Strat middle, Tele bridge. No holes drilled. Three piece, northern ash. I haven't weighed it, but it's a good solid 5 pounder anyway. $75 shipped.

SD Mini Humbucker, new in box. I think I took it out once to look at it. $75 shipped.
Genuine Fender American Series Tele bridge. Out of the package, but never installed. $45 shipped.

Curtis did the research to come up with correct codes for those colors. If he says it's right, as far as I'm concerned there's no question.
By the way, he makes awesome pickups.
EDIT: You can get those colors and others in nitro lacquer rattlecans at www.reranch.com .

I'm sure there's lots of other ways, but which way do you like the most?

It's trees dude, trees. What you just hate art?
Nah, I just have to take a poke every now and then. I really have a lot of respect for your work. You're doing better than I ever could.

All done. Turned out really good. The finish is perfect, a really nice gloss. I have to go get strings tomorrow and than I can finally play it. The tap tone is really good so I'm really excited to be able to play on it.
It's light at 4.3 pounds and balances perfectly.
It has schaller tuners and fishman matrix electronics.
The grain lines on the spruce are 60+ per inch (crazy close), I cant wait to see how it will open up in a few months of play time.

Look at that awesome binding.
Here you can see the cool label we made for it.
Link to more pictures.
That's craaaaaazy tasty.
About that label though, what is that? Varicose veins?

If you want the finish David achieved, why not ask him what he used. He is a very nice guy and I am sure he would be happy to tell you.
Go right to the source, takes the guess work out of figuring these things out.

At one time there was a thread about that guitar, and here it is!

Black Shellac . . . wasn't he the president of France? Never mind . . .

Fender makes a plate to use a mini toggle between the pots. Clamp it in a vise and use a step drill to open it up, and voila. No muss, no fuss.

Brad Gillis' old red Strat has a built-in wireless that he and his brother put in back in the 80s(?). There is an interview with him in a recent Guitar Player magazine with a few detail pics. Here's the online version.

Yep, 12000.
I was only planning on going up to 2400 but I couldn't stop.
I love em. My blue Tele was polished with Micromesh pads and a little soapy water and nothing else.

Price lowered to $280 + shipping
I'd also trade for an 80GB zune.
I have an 80GB Zune. Seriously sweet. And no, you can't have it.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, but it's really not necessary. You know, because it's obvious.
