  1. I am going to be attempting soon (as i have said for over a year) to build a copy of a Mockinbird, i can't however get hold of a Mockinbird to draw round or similar to get the right size. Does anyone know where i could get hold of a scale picture with measurements or a scale on? Either that or would a Mockinbird owner be able to send me an outline of the guitar? Bearing in mind i live in the UK. Thank you to anyone who can help
  2. Well according to a Guitar Buyer Article from August 2003 he uses - Fender Stratocaster fitted with Humbucking pickups Crybaby wah wah pedal Marshall JMP-1 preamp Marshall JFX-1 Multi-FX Rocktron Midi Mate Foot Controller Pete Cornish Custom Router/Switcher Unit Marshall 9200 Dual Monoblock Power Amp Marshall 1960B straight 4x 12 cabs x 2 His Strat was a '56 Fender Strat with a Maple neck and 2 DiMarzio Super Distortion Humbuckers. He did switch to JV Squier Strats at one point but now uses Fender Starts again modified specially for him with skinn frets and a 7.25" radiused fretboard. I assume the pickups etc. are the same as he used to have o his '56 Strat but dunno for sure. MAIDEN RULE! seen 'em in cardiff in 2003 and they rocked - Dave Murray is amazin', apparently they're playing Reading this year too so i'll be there!!

    H-s-h

I'm about to embark on building my first guitar and want a pickup set up of H-S-H (though this may change due to the fact westheman picked up on that the single coil would be in the way of the picking path a bit) I'm not too sure how to wire it so any ideas/suggestions on the controls would be appreciated. Schematics would help too - for the wire colouring i will be using Bare Knuckle Pickups.
  4. the price i quoted was only an estimate going on the first prices i found so i will look around for cheaper, my dad is also a builader so he should be able to get hold of some wood for fairly cheap for me but thanks
  5. 2 more things - firstly - aimed at wes cos i know that he's made neck thru guitars before - what sort of size wood do i need and where is the best place to join it together? and secondlyany ideas for a wiring scheme for my pickup lay-out - h-s-h - 'cause i am currently trying to wok out costs and will need to take the electronics in to account not including electronics and with some estimated prices i am currently spending £720 - $1,345.64 so i think my max is £1000
  6. thanks, that may also be a great place to buy the wood too - been looking for prices! thanks to everyone so far!
  7. cheers guys, what about woods? i like the colours of the bass (which is maple and rosewood) but i am open to ideas, the project won't be underway until around may so any help up until then will be a help, i will document my progress on my website (which isn't properly up yet so i won't post a link) i'll post a pic of the design soon so poeple can see oh and does anyone know where i can buy premade freboards in theUK then 'cause i've searched the net and all the results come back as "how to make" or "fretboard roadmaps - (chord books)" - so if anyone knows i would apreciate the help!
  8. OK, i'm new to this guitar making thing so i'm gonna need some help! I wanna make a slightly altered version of a B.C.Rich Mockinbird, i have the design i want drawn out but its abot 1/4 or less of the scale and i don't know how to enlarge it to accurately be full size. I want if poss a neck thru guitar (purely for aesthetics, someone tell me if the tone isn't great on them!) with a 2 tone effect - like this bass - I know how i'm gonna do it i got that all sorted but there is one more question - how can i be so accurate with the fret distances, they're to like 3d.p's of a mm - how can i get taht accurate? please someone help me
