  1. Are you sure its the amp? if the pickups on your guitar are active you may need new batteried in it, that happened to me recently
  2. LOL just thought if you really want some free parts for your guitar do a search on dumpster diving, I remember reading a topic on it here lol!
  3. ive never seen a V kit, but im my opinion with the kind of budget your talkin about id wait a while, just get a cheap strat copy while you save your money, and play the guitar all the time so youll have a really good idea of what will suite you when you have the funds to do so because seriously if it was possible to build a custom flying V for under 100 bucks with just a screwdriver we'd all be doin it! lol You never know someone may be feeling generous an give you some wood or something but even still tools are expensive, so go get a part time job!! lol
  4. 'Using a photo of the original Duck to replicate each and every scratch' lol, if you look at your guitar an then the orignal the main wear on the front of it is a good 1 and a half inches lower on yours than on the original as for tips check out all the tutorials on www.projectguitar.com and once youve read them do a search on the forum on anything you need more help on, and if you cant find anything then ask the members, in that order, lol, youll get a better reception of the members that way, thats what i do as im still a newbie guitar builder myself
  5. I want to do a sunburst finish on the guitar im refinishing, and im wondering if rather than spraying the burst i could use a heat gun to burn the edges of the guitar, then stain over the whole thing any reasons why not? and do you think it would look good? Thanks Dave
  6. I dont know if your aware of this but LGM is a member of this board
  7. My friend gave me this guitar, he didnt want it anymore so i said id have it to mess around with and modify, anyway i want to file down the neck as it is quite bulky and im just wondering how much I would be able to take of it before it 1.weakens the neck and 2. i file into the truss rod cavity bit I know the depth of the truss rod cavity is gonna vary due to what truss rod it is an other factors, but is there a general amount that is ok to take off? Thanks Dave
  8. Your on a website dedicated to making and re finishing guitars, lol If you dont like the colour you could always refinish it to your tastes
  9. Ive read a few threads of people saying they use pictures of abalone in photoshop to create there decal, I was just wondering if anyone has any links to sites with pictures of abalone an mop on so i can see what this would turn out like Thanks Dave
  10. I dont know but im sure ive read someone elses post that says no, because the flakes are too big to fit threw the nossle of the cap or not enough pressure? something like that, not sure of the reason but im pretty sure its a no, could be wrong though
  11. You can put banners above the topics on this type of forum, it may be an idea to make one with big letters sayin 'please use search function before poting questions'- or something along those lines just so any new members dotn make the same mistakes
  12. Squiers arent exactly the same bodys as the fenders, i remember reading it in one of the tutorials here when he compared his squire to the real template of a strat he bought
  13. the nut to the 12th fret is supposed to be the same distance as the 12th fret to the bridge
  14. Ive gotta say I didnt even realise there was a search function till about a week after I joined! lol
