  1. Hey guys, I'm going through the planning stages for my next build and I'm stuck on one element... I'm basically looking to build a guitar with a carbon fiber top similar to the one below, with the addition of a thin-ish (3mm) sheet of clear plexiglass on top of it (this will have a simple line drawing engraved into it). I will be buying the carbon fiber as a pre made sheet before adhering it to the plexi and then cutting it down to the right size. I'd imagine that if I was to try and glue the two surfaces together it's likely that there's going to be a very visible residue leftover from the glue / adhesive, so I'm wondering how to go about bonding the two surfaces together so that the join is effectively crystal clear? My first thought is some sort of two part epoxy, although since both surfaces are already going to be glossy and can't really be roughed up, I'm not sure really how well any adhesive is going to be able to hold everything together...
  2. Love the shape and the walnut always looks great. Can't wait to see more of this one
  3. Thanks for the link. That guy's got some serious wood! For any non-German speaking people, this should help you find your way around the site a bit easier: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://www.holz-faszination.de/home/node/2&prev=_t
  4. Looks great. Any news on the truss rod? It would be a shame to have to pull it all apart to fix it.
  5. Guitar looks awesome RAD. What is the output jack/ plate which you are using on this guitar?
  6. The inlay looks very nice and clean. I've been thinking of doing some inlay the same way you've done yours here with the templates so I can get a cleaner route. What tools do you use to make the templates?
  7. Very clean build, and I love what you've done with the jack plate! How did you route the recess for the jack plate? It looks like it would be quite awkward?
  8. Looking great so far. Love the choice of woods. I've got a plank of Tassie Blackwood here for a body and neck and I've been eyeing off some Sassafras veneer for a while so I'm excited to see how yours turns out.
  9. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that cost? Just trying to get a general idea.
  10. That looks good, I didn't buy a Floyd Rose, I bought a Floyd Rosd instead The last one I bought was an 'Eloyd Rose'
  11. All I get is: Even when I click on the links.
  12. The only problem that I see that may have an effect on the guitar is that, when you 'chop top' your going to lose the thickness of the blade which you cut it with.
  13. Haha, +1 to the new guy Welcome to the forum anyway Lovely piece of cherry you got there Narcissism, I suppose this one has got some specs that we all want to know?
  14. Yeah I will try that. The amp now just makes a loud crackle noise when turned on, so I don't know if that's because of the original problem or one of the small mods we (shouldn't have done) did. My dad (electrical engineer/ amp/ radio fixer/ whatever he is) said that the small mods should be fine and he also recommended that we check the voltage across the resistor and see if it is within spec. Hopefully all is still good
  15. Looks good RAD. Very inspiring work, I love it when I see an update in one of your threads.
  16. Love the headstock veneer and the shiny top
  17. Love the zebra wood! Hows it for weight? I'm thinking of doing a guitar with similar woods.
  18. Very excited for this build, hope it turns out as good as your other guitars.
  19. Found the problem It was just a burnt out resistor, easy fix.
  20. About time! I've been waiting for the updates of this build for ages! Looking good as always Drak
  21. The tubes have always glowed blue since new and now glow orange. I will definitely change the tubes, and then if something is still wrong, my dad used to have a business which fixed valve radios and amplifiers etc, so he will most likely know whats going on inside after having a look.
  22. there is one in a metal case that I haven't looked at yet. Also, what is causing the other tube to glow orange instead of the blue it was glowing before the amp stopped working?
